Just spent the past hour or so doing this script. I make teeth within the script, but this model didn't call for the teeth. I gave him eyebrows but no head of hair. I also depended on the lighting for skin coloring and the material for the texture. It's one way of doing it I guess. The eyelid technique is simple, but worked for this guy in the image. Just basics that I know and use is what I present here for making this particular static image. Nothing fancy..so don't throw rocks at me unless they have money wrapped around them :)
Put your show actions on before starting the zscript.
(had to zip this thing it was larger than the forum allowed)

I hope this will help someone(s) out there that is interested...

Edit....If some script guru would take a look at this thing for me..grrrrr....just ran the script...it works for the most part...but the ears disappear when they are being put into place and the lighting settings change and the end image is close...but...not the same...Is there a reason for this? But on the whole I think you will get the idea of how this was created...thnx
once again
Ron
Thank you very much for this and the previous one (alpha brush, etc)helps a lot and is appreciated.
Thanks for sharing this information Ron. I will come in handy in the future! Nice image :) :tu: :tu: :tu:
Thanks Ron, will be "digesting" this one as I did the other (BELCH :D )
I will seriously be viewing this over and over, you have an eye for teaching others the very basics, and a lot of people are eternally grateful.
Many Blessings
Mr. Harris, questions.
Before I begin if this is annoying or a pain let me know.
Not only do you write teaching aids, now you have to answer questions. But due you your tutorials and Mr Kammars there is beginning to be light at the end of a tunnel.
I did everthing I know how to slow down your script during playback so I would miss nothing.
1. Am I right to surmise that during the creation of the main features ( head shape, eyes, nose, mouth)you relied primarily on pushing and pulling and zadd and zcut were not used.
2. Big question.
At two points during the modelling of the head and creation of the teeth the screen jumps and I can see portions of the head grow darker (dark gray).
The portions of the head that I refer to are the forehead and the lips.
In the teeth modelling, the "Gum section"goes dark for awhile, you model than it changes back and the teeth area goes dark gray.
What I intend to do eventually is to run your script on one computer and model on another. I am breaking it into sections.
The original modelling tutorials that come with the program are not as good as the one you have made.
Your help is appreciated.

Joe, Kitty and Ryter..thank for you the very kind words...its nice to be appreciated...
Ryter...onto your questions...its a little after midnight here and I am a bit fuzzy minded ...but...I will do my best for ya bud :tu:

Answer...Not annoying at all...I enjoy helping others when I can...

Response...then most of my script made sense and if it helped..then way kewlies!!! :)

Response... I hope you didn't have too much trouble with that...

Answer....You are correct....This is something my good buddy Mentat7 slapped me around about...Pushing and pulling seems to give better results than using zadd and zsub...so I keep that to a minimum...it improved my models ten fold...Thanx Lon!!

Answer......That gray you see is me masking the image...I mask areas that I wish to not be effected by my strokes...the bottom lip I wanted more full looking...so I mask it..this is done by being in the edit mode as shown.(not in the move mode) I then hold my Ctrl button down and the ring around the cursor becomes yellow.... I then draw onto the model...in this case the upper lip....the black/gray part is not affected now because its masked...so I can push or pull on the bottom lip in this instance without moving the top lip around...I use this technique to smooth rough part around the nose....and you divide and smooth your model or parts of your model by doing this also....helps control poly counts also...when you run my script or anyother...be sure in that script pallette to select Show Actions....stuff will highlight for you better when you viewing...it takes longer to run the script, but....you will learn more from it....
Also...when you mask something...and you want to reverse the mask...like a bumpy forehead you want smoothed...here is what you do...apply your mask onto the area you want touched up smoothed, inflated or divided..etc...then go into the Tools>Modifiers>Selections and there are other masking stuff there...take and inverse your mask and the rest of the head is suddenly masked in black/grey leaving where you originally drew the mask open and unmasked....you can then do what you have to do to that portion of the model without affecting the rest of the model.... Hope that was clear..if not lemme know

Major Response......I want you to know that is one of the highest compliments I have ever been paid on this forum...You and Kit have caused me to wake my wife up and pass along your comments...and waking her up is dangerous :) but I seriously and humbly, thank you both. Helping each other is what the forum is about....I am not a guru by far...but if I can help you out by passing along information that was graciously given to me at my beginnings here, then that makes it all worth it...Ryter, check is in the mail :)))))))
Your help is appreciated.
I will gladly help anyone who asks me...if I don't know the answer I can probably steer you to the right person.
thnx you three !!!

Repeating (ad nauseum)
My thanks.
Correction you and Mr. K-o-m-a-r.
If you all help, at least I can spell the names right.
( helps the other new kids find the good ones )
Further followup and questions.
I have been looking at this tutorial and Mr. Komar since they have been posted.
There have been very positive results.
I have created many alien heads that any galaxy would be proud to claim as their own.
I have made several barnyard critters that would win blue ribbons at any fair.
Since the objects were originally supposed to be human heads,I have a distance to go.
Questions:
1. Before the tutorial even begins, did you change any of the polygon setting(H,V,sh.etc)? It was suggested in other tutorials,I was wondering if you did.
I tried other settings, default seems to be working.
2.I know that you had trouble setting up the ear example.
What you started with was obviously something your created previously.
What was the original shape?
I am trying to break down the process into incremental steps. So far everything is really going quite well.
Appreciate everything!!!

nopers...the spere is default...and the ear is just the torus tool and I go into deformations and inflate it and then sculpt it with zadd and zsub....and flatten it via the deformations pallette and resize....all was from scratch per say in this script... now I do increase the head poly counts alot of times in the beginning..but it really pulls down my computer resources....alot of time I will start with a low poly sphere and subdivide areas that need detail in the modeling....but places like the top and back of the head etc dont really need the higher poly counts since there is not much modeling on them...I save that resource for around the nose, eyes, mouth/lips....hope that helps...any questions I can answer I will try my best to do....glad to see you are enjoying this stuff..I would love to know why the ears disappear in the script and if there was some way to fix/alter the script so they would not black out alltogether....very frustrating...thnx again
