Thanks for the comment. Does the cloth look okay? How about the metal material? Does the lighting fit the background okay?

Okay, I was wondering why my images almost always get only one or two replys. Is it the content? Ive seen way worse on this site, from nudity to gore. So whats the deal?

Great character, dude. I know what you mean about getting few comments. I guess we are not at the top of the popularity league :( . Don`t wory about it, just improve on your already great skills and who knows...

Hey D/S, there are many reasons why people may not comment on an image...Sometimes they just have nothing to say, sometimes they miss the post, whatever...
The main point I would like to make here is that you only make a situation awkward by coming on and in effect, complaining about a lack of response. You make others uncomfortable, and it also only serves to make yourself uncomfortable as well...
Relax, do your work, try to improve your skills, and don't demand a response. It's not about 'numbers' it's about the art. I flinch every time I see these types of things because they do nobody any good.
You should be posting because you are happy with the work, not because you want to see how many people respond...I thought the first post was nice, and I thought the expression was great...I was waiting to see where you were going with it...But before anybody had a chance to see that, you were making the situation a negative one by complaining that nobody was paying attention.
We've all posted things we thought were great, but they didn't get the same response from others...It's just not that big a deal. Just relax, have fun, and do your work...Don't worry about who posts replies, or how many...It just shouldn't matter that much, as long as you enjoy what you're doing... ;)

Sorry, I didnt mean to make it 'awkward' for anyone. And I didnt mean to be negative.
I just like to know what people think about the things I make, good or bad, doesnt matter as long as something is said.
Peoples opinions mean a lot to me, by telling me its good it builds confindence, by telling me its bad or what can be fixed, it helps me learn and notice my own mistakes ahead of time.
that is some excellent advice SC has given-I think your lighting looks great- perfect nuthouse lighting.

Understood D/S... :)
But you have to wait for it, and also understand that it might not happen at all...
That shouldn't worry you...The more work you do, the better that work will become. And this is a BIG Forum...There is a lot to see, and if you continue to improve, you'll get lots of response.
Just be patient, and don't depend on others for the improvement...Study Art, not just computer Art, but Art...That's the way you will improve. And as far as backgrounds go, (Here's a little feedback for you... ;) ), personally my procedure is to paint a background...If I don't want shadows, and I don't want lighting to affect the background, I use 'Flat Color' material...If I want the background to be affected by the lighting, and to 'receive' shadows, I use 'Basic Material' or some other material. Also, I usually have 'ZAdd' off...
I also usually work out my background first, because I think it's easier to visualize the finished piece then...Of course not everyone sees it this way, so you have to work out your own methods...
The important thing, and I've said this before, so people might get tired of hearing it, is that in the term 'Computer Art' the most important word is not 'Computer', it is 'Art'...Go to the library, get some books on Art techniques, and apply those principles to your work...I guarantee that your work will improve, and you will get lots of response to your pieces. And this is not a criticism of what you posted...In fact, as I said, I thought your expression in this piece was classic...
Study Art, think design, and try to see the piece completed in your mind before you begin. It might change as you go, but that way you at least know where you're heading...
I hope this helps, and I wish you all success with your future pieces...

I like the way you did the eyes they seem very transfixed. Not sure what the thing is below the nose. Lol I keep thinking it is a third nostril :) Maybe a few veins in them big old eyes to make them look a little bloodshot and some drool coming out of the mouth to convey that "insane" look. I just figured out what that background was. For some reason it was incredibley dark on my home computer and I thought it was a person standing behind him. Nice environment but maybe lighten it up. I am not all that familiar with asylums (contrary to poplular belief) but aren't they usually rather white or light blue inside with more lighting? Dunno.... Nice work overall and again I like the eyes....very nice smooth mesh. :tu:

Thanks for the comments guys! The mark under the nose was supposed to be the little dimple just between the lips and the nose, but yeah, I agree it looks a bit odd. Heres a version of the picture without it, and I also lightened it up a bit as suggested. I was going for sort of a dark, almost prison cell or asylum cell (without the typical padded walls obviously) as the background.

The background fits very well, D/S...
I think it wouldn't be that hard to do entirely in Z, but whatever works, right? ;)
