You can't add another material. The material you load or modify replaces the one currently selected in the material palette.

Slightly off topic, but if you want a whole pack of materials, try the MaterialPack.

create new materials by taking an existing one and modifiying it.

For hair, there are a variety of techniques that can be used depending on your needs.

Go to the QuickLinks (linked to from the top right corner of every page here at ZBC) and do a search for hair (Ctrl+F, if you have Internet Explorer). You'll find a good many tutorials on the subject.
