Hi

Uploading homemade ZBrush tools?

This would depend on if the interest level is great enough, and whether or not I am actually allowed to upload tools.

I notice that the tool file sizes can be quite high, although I have also noticed the actual tool file size can vary on subsequent 'savings' of the same file...in one case a drop of 1meg...now I have some of my own answers as to why the file size may drop on these subsequent file saves. However, I would like to hear the actual reason please. Also how can I keep the tool file size small ...is this possible? While still retaining the 'workability'...ie leaving the tool totally editable in max polygons.

Portrayed below is one of my many rejected heads, if I can upload these heads they then can be used as tools for further experimentation by others.

Is all this possible.....or even wanted?

Hey Gurgler.....I can't answer your questions, but I can tell you this - If I ever wanted to do a portrait of my X-wife, I would surely want to use your model. It looks just like her, actually your model looks a little better!!! :D Z'ya later..... :cool: Mark.

I would definetely be interested in any tools that you care to share Gurgler. Heh, if it wasn't for Southern most of my images would be headless,toothless and eyeless.
I would be happy to host them on my site, just give me a hoot or a holler.

Meanwhile, I am forcing myself to keep trying to model faces, perhaps one day, maybe 2020? I will get something that looks human.

for makin' me laugh after reading your post, you can have anything you want.
Trouble is I still got to work out how to reduce tool file size.......any ideas?

Have you tried using the "Optimize" button in the Deformation Pallette? After the model is ready-eddy Optimize should reduce the pologon count of the object, too much you will begin to lose detail but just right mostlikelyperhapspossibly reduce the file size of the tool without ill effects

Digits is correct, in order to reduce the file size, you may need to reduce the polygons count. ZBrush is storing a lot of information with every vertex (3D point) within your mesh (about 30 bytes of memory is used with each point).
In order to calculate memory usage for a 3D object you need to multiply the number of points by 30.

:ex: The number of points within a 3D object is displayed within its Popup info.

For example, default sphere has HDivide=128 and VDivide=64,
128*64=8192 points
8192*30=245760 bytes (which is 240 kb)

If you save this object, you’ll notice that the file size is smaller then 240k because ZBrush is compressing the data when the object is saved. If you save the default sphere, the file size will be about 124kb.

You can further reduce the file size by using program such as WinZip.
I have tried the above file with WinZip and the file size was further reduced to 84kb (which comes to about 10.5 bytes per vertex)
