well this type of work is very relaxing and fun...started when we got out of the channel tonight. One layer. Filled the backwith black fill and drag stroked alot of it with various alphas using simple brush, blur brush and highlighter brush. The planet is a 3d sphere. Nothing earth shattering, but fun nonetheless.

Thanks in advance

kapowee - Photoshop tricks of the trade..hehe =)
Make type, convert to raster. Make selection based on type. Covert selection to object mask of desired layer (this case a space image I made). Apply layer mask and then pop on desire layer effects.

Hey Mike...you might want to check the guidelines you posted. The first guideline reads:

quote:
Real or Caricature, Famous or Infamous. Maybe even yourselves.

So are these Space Caricatures?? :D

Here is my spacecraft WIP, a WIP assuming I ever finish it. :p The background is from a Hubble photo, the spacecraft itself more accurately represents my texturing ability, which is what I currently desire to improve in Z. Lets just say they recently left the Romulan fly through space-wash!

Oops, reread the first post, and maybe the actual real (visible spectrum adjusted) NASA background is illegal. :( Breakin' the law, breaking the law! ;) Anyway here's the zsphere model sans fancy background:

I love doing space stuff.. And I have a ton of ships and space buildings already made in Wings... But I didn't cheat. I did the little ship in this pic, using zspheres. I do have to get into the habit of saving my steps though as once again I only saved the finished ship as a tool. The rest is done as a painting.
Hope y'all like it!

Greetings,

Well if you are going to be in outer space, it's always handy to have a 'raygun' to back off nasty aliens. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200406/user_image-1088310499ypf.jpg

Hey Guys, been awhile since I used Z2. Thanks to MTB for getting the MNC's going again. :tu: Anyways here's my entry. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200406/user_image-1088368437mju.jpg

I created the back ground by filling the layer with the flat shader set to black. I then painted the stars, nebula, glows etc. with the highlighter II brush. Planet is sphere primitive with a standard ZB texture, and bump brush over painting. Asteroids are sub-D spheres sculpted, and bump brushed. Lights were set to radial, and highlights on asteroids were painted with the shader enhancing brush. Best rendering was not used. I do have another version of the image, but with different lighting, and cavity shaders for the rocks. 121 welcome.

Thanks Game Master 770.
Here's the version with the cavity shading. It's not finished, but this is about the point where I decided to change the lighting and over all mood to the piece. In looking back and comparing the two images, I think I made a good choice. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200406/user_image-1088378225roa.jpg
