I want to thank all the participants of the Monday Night Head Challenge. Everyone did an amazing job pumping craniums out. What's next you say?

As it states, any and all weapons.
Includes, swords, guns, old, new, fiction, or no.
One thing to focus on is using TM to make details textures. Also, try using the Multi-Marker tool to put things together. Once again, this is optional but it is stressed to try it at least.
:b3:Must be ALL NATIVE ZBRUSH MODELS.
:b3:High or low poly.
:b3:May use ANY ZPrimitive (Zif, ZSphere3D, ZCube, etc).
:b3:Must include a wire shot and/or pre-Multimarked shot. Uploading tools and ZScripts optional.
:b3:Try to use two or more materials (optional but good practice).
:b3:Background optional.
Good Luck and Happy ZBrushing!
P.S. Don't forget!
IRC Chat. The Server name is nexus.sorcery.net and the ports are 6667 and 9000. The Channel is #zbrush3. Come on in!
I just want to post a little tip for using the chat. If you don't have an IRC client, or cannot get one to work, go to http://nexus.sorcery.net/. Then use the webbased IRC client form to get into the chat. :)

Simple sword. Very fun to make weapons with ZBrush. Would have textured it but I am not very good at all with textures. :D

Here are some tools I have been making for a WIP.
The 18th century sabre is a MM tool only - the smooth values for each part are different so polymeshing them causes problems.
The blade was made from zspheres to get the curve and the skin was then flattened and modelled. The guard was also zspheres and the handle a sphereinder.
The musket is an early prototype for shooting non-sequiturs - one barrel fires folly and the other fires fallacy. The texture was painted in TM using a photo of some snake wood.

Amazing stuff already! Bravo everyone!
Here is a tutorial by our friend Ken Brilliant on Hard Edged ZSpheres (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=009191). Very valuable for this challenge. I use this method for anything with a hard edge. Swords, axes, guns, starships,...anything.
There is also links to other valuable info. Check it out and keep 'em comin! :tu:

Very nice weapons at the present time. Hy RAMSESIIV the quality of the texture like me so much.
I have been working in this set but becomes a little difficult to me as i have to know previously in depht the utility of the deformations palette as a I think is the way to make weapons.
Im trying but for instances the weapons already posted are very elegant and detailed one.
Congratulations

Hello everyone, This is my first post to the MNC. This was inspired by recently watching the 1966 Batman movie. When Batman was running though the pier carrying one of these, trying to find a safe place to throw it, which lead to one of the greatest lines in movie history: 'Somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb.' Hope you like. 50.

very dangerous looking devices, everyone! thats one classic bomb, 50, love the twisted twisting to do the fuse! :D
here is something more archaic: once the lateks living in the big delta found out about the rubber vine’s qualities, they used this

for hunting birds. they found out other uses for rubber, too - a few happy, healthy but ever dwindling generations later they were extinct :D

Greetings,
Here's my entry for the Monday Night Challenge.
This sword was made from three separate parts using multi-markers. For the first time I wasn't so intimadated by multi-markers

Holy arsenal Batman! We should be equipped for any eventuality.
A great challenge for which I am thankful as it has motivated me to finish this long running tool.
Here's the production version of the musket for shooting non-sequiturs.
I had some problems with the texture on this one when making the polymesh, but Aurick helped out and I learnt something new and useful (here's the nitty gritty for anyone interested (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000646)).
Thanks go to Digits for his Widget zscript, without which the barrel zsphere would have been a nightmare to make.

hi all
bone, simplemente exquisito.perfecto.
I did a pretty simple object, a world war 2 mine. It consists of a Sphereinder for the main volume(various alphas/selections were used to get the shape), another Sphereinder for the trigger cap(modelled with radial symmetry) and the handle was made from a multimarked object. Zspheres for the handle itself and a deformed Cube3D for the handle fittings.
The environment is also fairly simple, just a plane3d at 512x512 deformed with an alpha(reflect1 #33) and then I raised and lowered the ground around the mine with the simple brush, changing the brush height/width+Alpha+Zintensity where appropriate.
Seing as it was a pretty simple object I decided to work more on the surfacing and lighting. I spent a fair while tweaking the lights and rendered it twice (baking in between with Layers ::Bake Blend Amount at 99).
Finally came the smoke and light enhancements of the flare. That was done with the SimpleBrush, HighlighterBrushII, ColorizerBrush and the BlurBrush. Many alphas and different stroke types(though mainly the Spray stroke) were used.

Greetings,
I think I've finally realized how to use multi-markers and layers to turn out some decent illustrations.
I am currently experiencing my second renaissance with Z-Brush. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200308/user_image-1060058468urn.jpg

This is a masterpiece when it comes to
lighting and texturing. The contrast
between dark and light, and dirt and
metal is so dramatic. Hope you don't mind
if I right click this one?

Here's my entry.
A Fusion Cannon. :)
Mostly made from cylinder objects and the use of selection masking and deformations.
The reactor is made from a spherinder and the hose connector is made from a masked and deformed torus. The handles were made from skewed cube3ds.
Here's the polyframe version.

Well folks, everthing looks so good. Congrats to all who created weapons and posted here. There are some real masterpieces here. I ended up scrapping my pitiful try. Guess weapons aren't my thing.. Oh well there is always the next challenge.
WAIT A MINUTE!!!
I changed my mind. I decided to try anyhow, (I hate giving up on a challenge) so I did something simple (not nearly as creative as some I have seen on here) And something that isn't likely to be used for killing.
HERE IS MY CRYSTAL DAGGER
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200308/user_image-1060543843oec.jpg
OOPS! I almost forgot here is how I made it.
I used zshperes to create the blade.(I used three zspheres and two attractor spheres, and adaptive skinning.. I forgot to save the original zshpere model, sorry!) And a sphere to create the handle. A deformed ring to create the handle rings, and imported some dxf jewels for decoration.
I used markers to fuse the handle to the blade.

See you all tonight in IRC.
Tonight should be the last time we make a MNC without picking a winner. Then its balls to bones, work you ass off time!lol
I hope everyone is having fun with this. Participation is pretty low on this one. I will give you all a word of advice though. If you want to make a suggestion for the MNC or add input, go in the IRC channel tonight.
This is the way it has always worked.
See yeah.

I think MNC is a great idea and a important oportunity to learn because most of ZB user try to make his best post and i suspect for general purpose that low post in this one reside more with vacations than other aspect.
In my personal case, believe me that the deformation palette has been a hard rock to work in this setting... I was trying to do more o less aceptable but no results but i have seen with great interest the post of all of you.
Maintain that spirit because your effort is absolutely necessary and recognized.
Thanks for your attention

Its my first time posting any of my work, but I figured it was time to throw something up here. I was lookin through the forums and saw this "weapons challenge", so this sounded like a good place to start. It took me a couple hours, and the sword is all done in ZBrush except for the kanji stencil I made in Photoshop. I started with Zspheres for the blade shape then, I did subtools and extract for the handle. Sorry I didn't include a wireframe or show subtools seperated, I just didn't think this piece was worth showing all that. Dragon Sword.jpg Feel free to drop any questions or comments, and hopefully I can put some other stuff up in the future. Happy ZBrushing :D
