I'd say all your hard work has paid off. The battle hardened young man against a desolete and gloomy landscape is very moving and powerful. Great job Josh :tu: :tu: :tu:

You brought it all together just right I'd say. His expression is perfect!

I agree with the others...great job.....and he turned out really good.....if I were going to say anything to improve.....I would lay down a little shadow on the plants and then in the further back plants maybe play with the blur brush on them and that would give it a little more depth.....great job though overall..... :tu: :tu: :tu:

thanks for the comments, everyone. i really appreciate them.
Ron, if i get some more suggestions, i'll put them all together and make the pic look better...thanks for the tip!
here's a comparison of when i first started making the image, and the final one. i just thought it was cool how much it had improved. even though i've been using Z for nearly a year now, i still am amazed by it.

looks wonderful jibberish ..i would add some more light and make the hat thinner..
That expression is great. ;)
Real nice job. I like how the whole picture carries of consistency of color and textures to support the subject matter. :tu: :tu:
I like the final update. I think it captures the period nicely.

Yep, a very expressive, and eloquent painting... :tu: :tu: :tu:  :)
The dark mood you set with the lighting and color matches the subject very well...Fine job! :tu: :)

hey all, thanks for the supportive comments and the helpful advice.
Ron, i tried blending the grass in the back...what do you think?
dr. jjwow, i didn't really know what you meant by "more light" but i tried something out...and i couldn't figure out a way to make the hat thinner w/o making a whole new hat...
anyway, here's the updated pic...

My favorite part of this is his expression. Having the hat dip down to cover one eye was a nice touch, too. It's clear you've put a lot of time and work into this. :tu:

About his expression, he sure looks upset. :D

Looks awsome Jibberish! The whole atmosphere is one of desolation. Great job on the skin, and the expression too! :)
