"all american trucker" Jack Burton

Hi everyone! All the entries look sooo cool already everybody's so talented. Anyway, I love "Big Trouble in Little China". Ive spent so many hours working with it playing in the background. My tribute to the classic will be this Jack Burton Bust. Im still not sure what pose I like best. The one where he's holding the gun or the one where hes got lipstick smeared and hes saying his classic lines. I did a quick sketch from a sphere that i will next retopo and add the body. Any crits, and comments welcome.

Im starting to feel like im getting closer to the likeness, at least enough to take a break on the face and work on the body, pose, and a kg 9 mock up.

with the body and kg 9 mock ups in place im on to the body and hair details. My projection gives me a good start but theres lots of details to add. Im not sure about the base yet but I put the Big Trouble in Little China branding to get some inspiration.

I added refinment to the likeness and added more detail all over. For the expression I tried to capture the moment after Jack kills Lopan and says "Its all in the reflexes" Next ill detail the gun and base. A few more details on the hair, and maybe the rest too if i have time. Any crit on would be appreacated. Thanks,

Well its been a good week of moonlight modeling. There's definitely more I would do but I guess that's a wrap. I spent today shaping up the base and hair a bit. Man vs mullet. But its a sweet mullet indeed. Thanks to everybody else who participated. It was fun to watch everyone's progression. Now... beer... then sleep.

Nice work, not sure if you're going for realism or a bit stylized.
If realism it looks a little characteristic and looks a tad bit more like Elvis in the face. (at least in the profile shot)

Awesome likeness! That mullet is as sweet as the movie itself! Face does look a tad puffy in the profile shot... but its not the first thing I noticed by any means. Keep rocking man!

hehe i really like it.. you got him spot on.. one of my favourite movies of all time cause it mixes suspense, mystery, martial arts and comedy in a unique way. and kurt russel was always one of my heroes.

edit.. had to look at it again ^^ and yes.. i like it even more.. especially because you gave him that extra bit of arrogance and naiveness he has in the movie. the reference pic is way to pretty and "posey" and isnt jack burton but a beauty-shot for russel himself :-)

-wasa it should look a bit stylized but i didnt want to lose the likeness by going to far. Elvis shouldn't be to far off since hes snarling his lip.
-Capa maybe a bit of deflation on neck skin will help. I did want to make sure his pronounced jaw was evident, but not too much
-Gunnahan Thanks yeah I totally agree, John Carpenter always makes him into a badass, lil john wayne with a 80s flair.

Great sculpt! think the hair is a little too flat toppish though. might want to add a bit of volume to the top. i'll be watching this!

I think his flattop is a bit too severe towards the outer edges. The one pic seems to show a bit of slope from mid top of the head to the out side edges.
Gives him a bit of a Frankenstein look to me right now.

Well one more post. I address the comments about the hair by using my sculpt to created guide splines then I used the hair system in max. Its come along way and its been a fun week and a half.

Yes sir, I've paid my dues.

Try bending your wrist the way you've got his bent. You can't do it. You need to rotate the hand and gun a bit for it to look right.
