I decided to revisit this artwork since I've gotten a little better at the program and learnt some new techniques. I was looking at this peice and found it too dark, too false for my liking. There was so much more little tiny almost un-noticable details I wanted to add. So I went back and added them.
For those who are interested, here's the newest version. Dramatically different to the trained eye ;P

New Feature Outline

* Totally different lighting effects, dramatises the peice a little more.

*more realistic skin, not so synthetic looking

*Addition of water pool, somthing I'm quite pleased with

*Rock wall in the background now looks wet

*Dramatic improvement in the grass effect

I've decided they both look good for different reasons. I just felt like revising it and adding in a few newer techniques that i've learnt recently

EDIT: Added original picture

I think you did a great job with both versions ! You know I like the one with water best, don't you !

Thanks Deevee. Well you know I got the idea and style for the water after seeing some of your works :) At first I had it toned down, with a more realistic appearance to it. But I decided to brighten it up a bit, make it look a bit more enriched. Thanks for the comment :)

hey cal...I tell ya I am torn....I like the background in the second version better but the figure better in the first one...he showed up to me a bit washed out...and with that type of light intensity it would be throwing alot more light off around him? Also with the figure in the second version the line is too hard around the face..and I think this is from the lighting....the piece is definitely coming along..but these were just my personal opinions...I must stress though that I am not bustin yer chops on the piece...coz it is a good piece :tu: :tu: :tu: keep us posted....

After looking at them both I totally agree.

What do you think of this then;

Hi Cal,
I think that the third image is, by far, the best of the three. The modelling itself is simply great stuff!

I've liked this one from the beginning. Especially your third cut. The addition of water is a subtle yet artistic blend. Somehow being chained to a wall AND having to kneel in water all day sets the right idea for an enslavement in my minds eye. Like adding insult to injury. Keep this one going. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Thanks guys :) I think I may do another peice with this character. He's just grown on me immensly. I might do an after take shot. Maybe him breaking out of those chains, holding a human skull in one hand and a spinal er.... maybe not :p
