An attempt at long hair. I initially used the fiber brush, but ended up hand painting most of it with more traditional brush strokes. I still took advantage of alphas and stencils to keep it in shape. Making a smooth child face was a bit of a challenge too.

Hi Ken,

inspiring as usual. I live the freckles i this image. Did you use texturemaster on the head or paint her flesh onto a snapshot head tool?

Very nice eye sockets.

Pushing ZBrush every further!

Nice work! :tu: Nice work on the hair as well. The only criticism I have is perhaps the lips could use a little more detail.

Hi Ken,
very fine work. The skin texture is very convincing. The hair works well; it's texture looks as though you could touch it.

Hi gang,

After some fumbling around, the hair was painted fairly traditionally with pure color brush strokes on a baked layer, with small sizes. some smudging, more painting, back and forth until it felt done (or as done as it ever will feel, which is not totally)

I didn't use Texture Master for the skin. I painted the skin tones and details directly on the "dropped" head on the canvas. The stencil with wrap mode turned on helped the details conform to the surface of the model.
The smoothness of the skin was partly achieved by using a large size smudge tool with low pressure. Of course, the original 3D model should be pretty smooth to begin with. I wish I had concentrated more on the lips.

I doubt anybody would ever call her cute, but she's a remarkable bit of painting. The face is every bit as expressive as I'm used to seeing from you, and those eyes are adorable. I really like the approach that you took for the hair, too!

LOL Aurick, I could just imagine Ken B replying: " NOT CUTE ? You bastard, thats my daughter !" Hehehe :D

Really great work by the Way Ken B. It just pisses me off though, you guys are so damn good :D, it's gonna be tough to have something I'll want to post here :D Hehe

Rockwell Meets KEN !!!
Sorry Ken, just kidding!
This is really nice...It manages to be conceptual and realistic at the same time. I usually paint on snapshot models myself, and as a painter am comfortable with the approach, but this controlling with stencils and alphas is something I definitely have to try! :tu: :tu: :tu:
Thanks for once again expanding my knowledge base, and entertaining me with another life-filled image! :)

Nice work Ken, thanks for explaining your method, I usually use texture master and end up painting all around the head but you have brought to light that with certain images I only need decorate what is seen, thanks for the inspiration Ken.
