hi folks!
this is my entry on cghub.
I try to make the great mr. monti burns!
I will do him like a real human. that means no carecature or comic. Iīll try to translate his expressions and character into an old manīs face.

itīs not that easy. thatīs all Iīve so far.

Awesome job! It's always fun to see a 2D cartoon character become a real life human being (or the closest thing to it). Keep it up!

I saw this over at CGhub and thought It was a great idea. Will definitely keep an eye on this one. Good start so far. If I had a crit. I would say longer nose.
Best of luck in the Challenge!

this is very good :tu:
its very very hard to get a "cheap" 2d cartoon character to 3d with details. you captured him very well.

After viewing the reference up against your sculpt back and forth it made me thinking. Burns has a massive upper lip which you can not re-create in the sculpt of course. But... what if you rotate his teeth to point inwards instead of outwards to emphesize the lip feeling. You might gain a bit more of the character by doing so...

just great - really looks mean and I like the realistic take on him :)

pitchepuck, nice work on Mr burns. nice to see you it coming together.

Looking great :)

I think you need to work a bit on his attitude/ pose. He is a bit hunched in the comics and if you add this to your character he will look so much more like him.

02-15-10, 09:01 PM
Haha very nice, Martin. If he stepped out of the tv and into reality, I'm pretty sure this is what we'd see.

Watch your type on the reactor, its getting lost. Maybe you could pull it out by making it BURN into the reactor.

That's hilarious. And you really have captured the essence of the character. Though if I may point out two small things.

1. Why are his pinkys abnormally short? Is it because he is based on a cartoon character that was drawn with only 4 digits? Or do you really want his hands to look a little deformed?

2. The warts or moles on his head are a great deal redder than warts or moles typically are.

Overall this is a very good sculpt, and I am amazed at how you transformed a familiar 2d character, not just into 3d, but into a somewhat realistic character. Once I recognized him I really had to laugh.

BillyT

simply amazing, except for that short pinky, but i love it.

02-26-10, 03:53 AM
hey, thanks! Iīm glad you like it. I worked till 5 (german time) in the morning to get it ready on time
itīs funny with the pinky... I didnīt realised this before. they are not too short... but unfortunately on the pics they look like this... I donīt know why
they are spread in the opposed direction than the other fingers. maybe thatīs the reason?

02-26-10, 05:15 AM
Such a wonderful idea to bring mr Burns to life in more realistic way . Well done my friend , only one thing, you should break the symetry on the fingers position to give it more life and realisme in the pose, otherwise excellent job !!!!!!!

EXCELLLENTTT hehehehehe :) Smeeethersssssss....

Awesome! He is easily recognizable as Mr Burns, and believable as a real human.

Well done :tu:

(blending/scattering that sharp line of hairs on the side of his head could help with the realism. It looks a bit like doll hairs now.)
