View Full Version : Rum Point At Twilight.
Rum Point is a very pretty part of Grand Cayman with some of the best beaches on the island. A Funny true story is that, 27 years ago lots were being sold for $US 3,500.00, with terms, $500.00 down and about $250.00 per month. They would not sell. Then in came a consultant who claimed that they were priced to low. He jacked the price up to $25,000.00, and they began to move. I related the above to say that I was offered a lot at the original price, as I was the developers Vet, and I DID NOT BUY, Now I cannot afford to. Another friend who did, refused $1.5 million for his lot about a year ago. It just shows, that you just cannot fore tell what the future may bring.
Enjoy,

Breathtaking, Doctor Joe...
I don't know what to say here...That water, the sky, the delicate brushstrokes, the colour choices, the whole feel of this blows me away...
I know I've said this before, (and will probably be saying it again!), but each of these landscape pieces is getting to a higher level than the previous ones, and I am TOTALLY IMPRESSED!!!!
Once again, I'm led to wish that there were one big :tu: symbol, cause these little ones no longer do it for your work...
Unbelievably fine, DeeVee...
:tu: to the power of time and space...
(That rich, purple light... )

Fabulous fabulous outstanding work!!
Don't ya love real estate consultants> :p :td:
Waterfront here is ridiculous also. 10 years ago it was different.
Just a note. For those who may be interested. In digging through my old books and papers I found a book which I found indespensable in the past. I bought it in 1978 so I am not sure if it is still in print. It is, "Drawing Scenery: Landscapes and Seascapes" by Jack Hamn. Published by Grosset & Dunlap.ISBN:0-448-01508-0
I recall how excited I was when I got it. It explained things so clearly. I hope that if it is still available, and you are able to get your hands on a copy that it will have the same effect on you and your images.
DeeVee.
Simply gorgeous Deevee. I love the series of lights on the horizon, anyone who has looked across the water on a still evening knows it.

Totally captivating and beautiful--bet you're drinking Rum to forget..not buying Rum Point those many years ago... :D :tu:
Thanks for the kudos. Robo, whenever we visit that site I come close to tears, when I think of what could have been. You are also so right it is a situation that could drive a person to strong drink. But, I look at it this way, if I was supposed to get it, I would have. My priorities were different at that time, so no real regrets.
Ok, which image is rated better, "Fly Fishing" or "Rum Point" since both are done in the same style, it would help me in the final five selections for first printing run. Any help given would be greatly appreciated. So far I have selected the following:
The volcano.
The pines.
Lady at waters edge.
Tranquility bay ?
Rum Point.
Fly Fishing.
House at three rocks.
Kathy's Cove.
Because of budget constrains, I have to cut this number down to five, but which?

Okay Joe...This is unfair, but I'll try to help, under protest! ;)
:b2: Of course, Rum Point
:b2: The pines
:b2: Tranquility Bay
:b2: Kathys' Cove
:b2: The Volcano
(But I think Fly Fishing belongs in this list as well!)
And I emphasize that narrowing the list down is painful to me, but you asked so I had to give you my opinion...
(An Edit: You know how much I like the 'Lady', but I realize it's not a preferred image-type for you, so I didn't include it...)
Hi Michael, thanks for your help. I have the "lady" included in my list, so you should select the best five that show a variety of styles. I am afraid that most of those on my list were basically done in the same general style, hence the difficulty :ex:

Hey Joe,
You made this hard.....well you know I love Fly fishing, the pines, rum point, kathy's cove, and the volcano......grrrrrrrr you made this verrrrrrrrrrrrrry hard, coz I love most of them to pieces....can ya give us some more details and hints about yer printing of prints project here :)))))
Well, I make jewelry for the National Museum gift shop. However, everyone is not interested in jewelry, so I have been asked to print five of my images for them to try. I would like to select a good salable set, as the first group to be printed. That is why I decided to involve my friends here on the forum to help me make the final choice.

well, i'm amazed. i've always liked your art, DeeVee, but this is astounding! this is so magnifincent, i thought it was an edited photo at first. if i wasn't a Zbrusher, i wouldn't have been able to tell this was made in Z. the refections are awesome and the plants and...well...everything is great.
josh
P.S. i thought the clouds looked a little bit funny around the edges because it looks like they were Zadded on. may i be so bold as to suggest you making the clouds fading into the blue with Zadd off...with just RGB. but you made the pic, so you decide what to do w/ it. again, amazing work.
Your suggestion is accepted. I will try to remember that point when next I use this technique. The clouds were done that way in an attempt to give a 3D effect.

allright, this absolutely fantastico, outstanding and atmospheric beauty made it right to my DeeVee absolute top 5 list! so here we go:
- rum point
- volcano
- lady
- the pines
- fly fishing
no doubt, that the next one will change this choice, though, so the printer better speeds up, amigo! :D

Thanks to all who helped me out. Your lists are very close to the five images I would have picked myself, so I will go see the printers tomorrow, as the Museum are pushing the panic button.
Thanks again, You know that the time you took to participate is appreciated.
DeeVee
Really superb image, on choices I will have to think on that. :)

deevee that looks like a scanned image. amazing work!!!!!
[EA]Krippler, I do not understand your comment! Are you saying that this is a scanned image, or that it can be mistaken for a scanned image. As English is not my first language, It would be helpful, and appreciated, to me and others, if you would explain exactly what you mean by your comment.
