Your best best for painting Ron, is probably to use flat color material, with ZAdd off to start, and maybe RGB selected. Once you have a base painting, you can add details with any material you choose. Flat color won't react to your lighting... :)You can also start with a low RGB intensity, gradually turning it up to bring more dense color.
If you want to build up material, you can still use ZAdd...By the way, the brush strokes on the hair fit really well!
:tu: Try what happens with the Shading Enhancer, and Highlighter, with a small brush size, and alternatively with a 'dot' Alpha, and a larger brush size...Don't worry about a finished piece, just experiment, gather knowledge of the processes, and put what you learn into your next 2.5D painting...Good start!
I like your hair effect Ron. With the tips from SC, I am sure that tenacious you will get it right in no time at all.

hey slick lol.
try adding him as texture then fill LAYER
(CTRL F) and use the Blur Brush on his Skin
then to bring him back to life go to (Render
Adjustment) go under the brightness tab to :: (rgb level)
