View Full Version : Iguana Crossing
This is a sign on the island of Little Cayman. I think it is one of the most photographed objects in the three islands. The funny thing about this is that the island only had about 18 permanent residents at the time.
The Caymans are the only known place where the Blue Iguana can be found, so it is protected. Thought you would be interested in the background story of this image. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1019801770mrl.jpg

Deevee, you've struck onto one of my raw nerves. I'm totally obsessed with Reptiles :)
I had the pleasure of working at a reptile farm when I was younger as a snake wrangler. Due to a nasty accident I can no longer smell. I was bitten and soon after my nervous system shut down. All is well now, except for the fact that I can't smell a thing.
CTD, I am sorry to hear of your accident. Venom or antivenom sometimes have these side effects. Just think of the alternative.
It certainly has not affected your ability to paint and model both of which you do so very well.

Thankyou :)
Actually funny thing. My eyesight and hearing have increased to an impeccible level. Doctor said that was normal. Drop a sense, the others pick it up a level.
The worst part of it is eating food. As you may well know; 80% of your ability to taste relies off of your ability to smell. When you can't smell. You can't really taste that well either.
Keeps me in shape though ;)

The picture is great Deevee. I think I remember seeing photographs of that sign around as well.
I can't smell very well either. If my eyesight was as bad as my sense of smell, I'd be blind. I'm not sure of the reason why though. But it's also probably the reason why I tend to prefer spicy foods because of the more intense taste.
By the way, there is a cat that lives in my neighborhood that I've actually seen check for traffic. :) He'll only cross the road when there are no cars in sight.

hehe, thats funny about the cat Wingman ;)
I know what you mean about spicy foods. I'll literally eat somthing, think its *almost* spicey, someone else will try it and run to the sink to get a throatfull of water.
There is a female dog on the main highway leading out of town who does the same thing, she waits on traffic, you can sometimes see her with her pups waiting on the side of the road to cross. The pups are learning their lessons form a very young age.

over here they put up similar signs when the toads start their annual hike to the ponds to breed... still you can find dozens of them pressed into 2D :(
great painting, DeeVee! the :ex: sign-painter has done a finessimost job as well but i bet that Mentat could lower the costs of his stay in paradise by providing traffic authorities with a fabulous Z-Iguana :D
ruined my smell by smoking too mucho. in fact one of the reasons to re-start this habit (beside unlimited stupidity) was that i could not stand the innercity aromas when my ability to smell returned. anyway, taste seems to work, not taking care of my shape :D

gasperdoochies...this one almost slipped past me...no pun intended....(yeah right) ;) ;) Very realistic sign Joe...I can imagine a hern of iggies trying to cross the streets....Now I take it there are more than 18 blue iguanas on the island?
Hansl...2d toads...lol...that one almost went over my head...roadkill is such a waste of wildlife...we just have alot of dead skunk, deer and oppossums and a few coons flattened out...but that is enough I guess...
Great work Joe!!!!Keep Zfaith
