GETTIN JIGGY WITH TEXTURE MASTER

I just had an itch to get down and dirty with Texture Master so here it is. It was supposed to be a lizard but kind of looks like a chicken thus is born the chicken-lizard. Not that fantastic and I got a little carried away with the texturing but I had a hunkerin to do some TM work. Eat up...it tastes like chicken......... :D

Beautiful work, Mentat! The modeling is really great, and those fins are an excellent touch. Even better is the way that you've blended the colors on them, as well as across the rest of the figure. Super :tu:!

DeeVee the image was done at 1500 x 1500 but I had to reduce it and crop it to just under 1000 x 1000 to get it to upload.

Wow - this is just so brilliant - I want to create like this!! The colours are so bright and clear and that eye is just awesome. I need to learn to do eyes like that!! WOW Thank you for sharing - it is very inspirational.

Question: as a newbie, I am having problem doing the background. Like in my first image, once I had modelled and textured, I couldn't work out how to paint a nice background. I tried layers but that didn't work. Everytime I tried to paint it would paint over my model. Also, it allowed me to paint with zadd on but I only wanted to paint in rgb.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated :) :eek: :eek:

Diane, what I do in that case I use a 3d plane and scale it to completely fill the layer that I'm using for my background. Then I paint on that. If I don't want the foreground objects to cast a shadow on the background (like for a sky for example) I use the flat color material for the background.

Diane, I use a quick and dirty method for backgrounds....In the draw menu I select RGB and ZADD...I choose an alpha....set my brush size to a very large size and then choose a texture....I paint a base layer then deselect the texture and turn ZADD off in the draw pallet. Then I just pick and choose colors...slap them on...use the highliter and intensity brushes...blur brush...etc until I like it. Hope this helps. Oh and make sure you do it on a seperate layer.

Mentat, I really get a sense of how much you enjoy doing this from looking at it. The colors have a lot of energy. I esp. like the markings on the neck and of course the eyes which seems to be your forte, or one of them at least :tu:
