Hi everyone, As I explain in the picture, I'm getting these lines from my 3d plane on objects infront of it. Any idea what this is or how to get rid of it? Thanks for any help. 50.

Hi Kid of 50
have you use a tiling for the background ?
Have you edited your bump material ?
have you use a new material ?
Have you try to change the regulates in the Sub menu S1, S2..of your material
What is the number of your material for seeing if that arrive on all version :)

What is exactly your Material ? A Noisy material ?(for reproduce the problem)
In general just change the regulate in the S1 menu (take a prime number) regulate the problem !
Like (0.13 or 17)

Hi Gary and Frenchy, I'm working on a new sketchbook material and I have changed all the S channels. There is no tiling. Here are
the noise settings, I set the noise to .13 as you sugessted, but no effect. Have tried many things. I did mess with the noise curve on all the channels, maybe that did it. Have tried many things. I'm no expert on this, just trial and error. I guess now I'm at error. 50.

i had this once when the resolution of the plane was not large enough for the canvas. so may be try to increase the resolution of the plane.

Hi Kid of 50
I don't find your start material( with 4 S...) :)
What is his name or his number or his Name?
Or Maybe it is in the material Pack?

Thank you koroko, that makes sense. I'm on a large document and did not increase the resolution. I'll try it! 50.

Sorry, Frenchy, I didn't see your post. to tell the truth, I don't know what material I used. I have changed it and saved it seperately. I have gone though all of the S channels seperatly and turned off all the bump and noise, then added them seperately. Each one creates it's own lines in a different place. I have tried with a new basic material also and get the same lines. I have increased the mesh resolution as koroko suggested and it changes nothing. I have been on this 7 hours a day on top of my job and am a little burned out. I'll try it fresh later. Gonna go out and ride my bike. I could post the material, but I hate to post a material with problems I haven't fixed. I don't give up easy, though. Thanks. 50.

Frenchy, it looks like 50's kid was using either the tri-shader or quad-shader material.

They can be downloaded from this thread:

ZBrush utilizes a mathematical algorithm to calculate noise patterns in a 3D space. These algorithms have a size limitation, and when that edge is reached it starts over. If your document is so large that this occurs, it can be seen as a line. This is especially prominant in cases where color bump has been used.

My personal solution is to not worry about it. After your final render, you can either bake the scene or re-import it into a new document using the Flat Color material. Then the Cloner, Blur and Smudge brushes can be used to eliminate this line while the many other brushes can be used to enhance the rest of the scene and take it to a whole new level that the renderer alone could not achieve.

Hi Aurick, it's always wonderful to know why something is happening, and not bang your head against the wall wondering and guessing. You 'Tech Guys' are great! I will stop fighting it and fix it postwork. Here is the 'Graphite Illustration' technique I was working on. Many thanks! 50.

Hi Kid of 50
If I understand the explanation of Aurick,
one another elegant solution should be cut your image in twice part :)
So the algorithm don't make this disgracious line :)
Tricky but efficient :D

Hi Gary and thank you. Hi Frenchy, yes, that seems to be the only thing I could do. I was hoping to make a pic large enough so I could render at AAhalf and still print an 8 X 10" on my printer. I just hate to see limitations in Zbrush. I shouldn't have to 'FIX' anything with cloning postwork. Maybe it will be fixed in a future release. :) See ya later! 50.
