I wanted to find out if anyone knows a good way to get a good glow from a material. Is this a possibility, or can it just be done with lights and the glow brush? I have something I am working on and I want a glowing Orb basically.

the lights only help out a material, however you could lower the diffuse and increase the ambient to increse the glow,.heres a example http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1035231554tpo.jpg

Why not THE Glow material?

I don't understand...I am assuming this isn't bright enough. But it can be with post effects in ZB. It can also be enhanced with glow and point lights (whether one uses radial or not is up to the situation).

Thanks for the responses. How did I miss THE Glow material. I swear, I am really braindead sometimes. It doesn't really give a true glow though it seems. I guess you have to definitely enhance with lights.  gosh, I feel stupid!

The glow varies with object size, material modifiers, and background pixols.

Don't feel bad that you didn't know. Feel good that you now are a little ZB smarter. ;)
I know I smacked myself in the head when I found that mat. After playing with ZB for days and getting nowhere.
But then I though,"COOL!" One more thing I know!

Have fun with your newfound wisdom!

When working with the glow material, remember that the glow will only appear during a Best Render. It's basically a post-render effect.

Also, I find that it helps with the scene to turn off the ambient in the Lights palette and let my lighting do the rest. It seems to give better quality overall, and it does improve the glow.

Thanks for all of the replies! I might have a chance of getting what I want out of my render now. EZ, how do you do it? So many ZScripts, so little time. Thanks again!
