View Full Version : Peeble Beach
This is a Sunday afternoon practice session in which I was trying to see what type of effect I would get by using the Spray brush to do surf and pebbles. Interesting results. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1035150553sov.jpg
It gives the ground a more uneven, realistic touch I think, Dee. Looks good.

MMMM, very pretty indeed. And a welcome sight today, as outside my window it is snowing already!!
Thanks for your comments. I have been trying to use the SprayBrush at small tip sizes, however frequent saving is necessary to prevent crashing. It most likely was not sesigned for the use I am putting it to , but it gives such a unique effect, that it would be a pity if the problem did not get solved.

I like the pebble effect - it definitely adds realism to the beach. I can feel the sand crunching between my toes. :tu: :tu: :tu:
I'm not quite so convinced by the surf, though (not that surf is exactly my strong-point, but that's another story!) - I prefer the way you have handled this particular aspect in a number of other paintings. I haven't painted any surf since 1.5.1 came out, but it would also be my tool of choice for the task now. However, it looks a bit too granular and solid here to me - not tried it, so I'm guessing: but a bit less intensity and/or a semi-transparent material, maybe?
I do agree about the crashes when using this tool extensively. I have generally learned to save often when using it, but in the heat of the moment I still get caught out from time to time and lose work. It's a pain since I also use it a lot.

I suffer from the spray-stroke bumble myself...spray stroke...spray stroke...spray..stroke...crash!! :D
I particularly like the palm fronds laying on the beach Joe. :tu:

WOW Joe! I dont know how this one slipped by me!
I would have to say that this is one of my Favorites.
Are those fallen palmleaves in the sand?
Excellent! :tu: :tu: :tu:
Thanks for comments and suggestions.
FC: the reason why I tried to depict the surf that way is that the sea is calm and the waves just rool in and over not creating any spray. If the sea was rough I would definitely have tried a finer treatment. As mentioned It is an experiment that I enjoyed.
Mentat: you have an in with the guys at Pix, have you heard if they plan to do anything about the spray brush problem? It would be nice to know. the technique I came up with for spray using 1.23b did not cause any crashes! But is could not do all the things that the spraybrush can.
