Well I can't model people yet but I certainly can design clothes. So here are a few done using the plane tool and poser for the model.

very nice Northstar! umm I'll take two of each.. *whispers sizes*! LOL
Nice work on the garments and good use of the Poser models. Funny I have never tried using a Poser Model maybe it is something I should try, as I have had Poser long before I ever heard of ZBrush. I just never got interested in it, but now see that I have been restricting my possibilities by not doing so.

To answer your question: All the clothes were modelled using the plane tool, hand drawn alpha masks and the usual modelling tools. Textures in # 1 & 3 are my own designs. Hair was added in Photoshop.
