Hello fellow ZBC Members!

Halloween is getting close and I would like to invite everyone to participate in this tribute to a great tradition Pixologic has held for the last 8 years. This is my humble challenge for all, this Halloween season.

CHALLENGE RULES:

Pick a pumpkin from this patch, or grow your own. Sculpt and shape your pumpkin into whatever you desire, just keep it as realistic as you can. All forms of pumpkin carving are open (portraits, scary faces, silly, etc...) Use all the tools Zbrush offers. Full scenes are not required (just use a black background) but if you would like to, go for it! Just remember follow the TOS of ZBC, and most importantly have fun! Happy Halloween everyone! -Brian

Pick a pumpkin from my patch! (just change the .txt to .obj)

pumpkin_a.txt (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162910&stc=1)
pumpkin_b.txt (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162911&stc=1)
pumpkin_c.txt (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162912&stc=1)

Later this week, I will demonstrate a simple, yet amazingly powerful way to light your Jackolantern... ;)

3Point14,

Cool Pumpkin :tu::tu:

Sirquadalot,

The pumpkins are coming. Just waiting for the weekend. Got the base done just need the time to get er done.

It's all about marketing. Start telling people they ain't got a hair on their behinds if they don't make a pumpkin

I would like to have a go at it but can't figure out how to make an .obj out of those .text files :o

sirquadalot
10-22-09, 01:16 AM
rolilli, it's easy, download the file, and in windows, right click on the icon and select, "rename". change the .txt extension to .obj. and click ok...(it will give you a warning about changing file extention...click ok. Also you can actually open the .txt file in windows note pad and see what went into these simple models! looking forward to your pumpkin carving. P.S you can make your own pumpkin and post the results if you are uneasy with this. I would completely understand! -Brian

I did not have alot of time this week to work on my pumpkins, but I made some time today. This is pumkin_a, overpainted with the highlighterII brush set to main. The luminousity was built up using multiple brush strokes with a low RBG intensity setting, colored orange. Make sure to render your shadow pass first, and when your happy with that, bake the layer, and start painting your light!:D

Great Pumpkins :tu::tu: Broke out my sunglasses to view the last one :D

Finally got a little time. I'm only part done but thought I'd bump the thread.

pumpkinTest.jpg (http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:zb_insimg%28%27163883%27,%27pumpkinTest.jpg%2 7,1,0%29)

Still got to detail the stem and give it some color. I have the face in my head, just need to get er done.

Made a simple base in Silo. I'm loving the feel of the new brushes. This is the first chance I've had to try them out.

It is great to see all the neat renders artists have submitted.
So here is my simple carved pumpkin.
The base mesh was made in Blender following tutorials found at CGCookie.
Then exported as obj and imported into Zbrush 3,5 for further detailing.
Next another export and import into Zbrush 3.1 for file size reduction using Decimation Master.

i didn't set out to do this today but i guess i got the bug. unfortunately this is not the image i wanted, zb crashed and i lost it, and my last two saves were corrupt, luckily i got a screengrab and was able to photoshop it.
