This is yet another skill builder. The purpose was to work more on eyes and mouth structure. I find my eyes to be generally not too good...I tend to make them too big and monstrous looking and the eyelids look too flappy. I am trying to get to the point where I can create facial features accurately and quickly. Need a little more practice  121 is welcome. The ear needs work. The texturing is part of my ongoing development of skin textures. Thanks in advance for the feed
back.

Very cool! :)

A little 121:

:tu: Nice materials on the face
:td: Maybe some "transition materials" beteen the lips and cheeks
:tu: Awsome wrinkly ears!
:td: They look a bit detached, maybe some blurring at edge where it meets the head
:tu: Good texturing on the skin, and especially the eyes!
:td: The cut circles on the top of the head look a little extreme, maybe some blurring...

The effort you put into this gal, shines through,Lonnie.Beauty she is,and comes across
with real character.Which is the most
important part of creating a dudette!.
Welldone buddy.

Nope. You make some of the most expressive eyes on the forum, quality is always great. So, that one doesn't count. :tu: The ear looks great, wrinkly like a woodland fantasy creature (ogre, brownie or something). But, as Muvlo said, it might need blending to the head. :td: The eyelashes are a great touch, subtly fitting in to the image :tu: Maybe more nostril? :td:

Cool, like a sister for yoda :D. I can't think of anything to add, apart from maybe adding extra adornments... bangles, earrings, head-dress etc, if she's a beauty she would probably have more jewellery. :tu: :tu: :tu: :)

Very well done Lonnie. If this is a bronze figure it is great as is. Other than that the comments of some of the others are valid. I would like to know what your thoughts are as to the final use of this image, if we knew that it might explain why you did things the way you did.
DeeVee,
Joe.

Muvlo & Slosh: Points taken and I agree. Thanks.

Stevie, Fouad, Ron, Grub, Deb, Dr. J: Thanks for the kind comments

DeeVee: It is a skill builder...an excerise and the primary focus was on better eye socket creation (i.e. the way the lids wrap around the eye etc) and on lip construction and front facial form. The rest of the head was second thought and all experiment. The main reason for posting it was to get some feed back on whether I have gotten closer to accomplishing what I set out to do and possibly get some working tips on how to improve it. I still feel my eye construction is weak and needs work. The way the ear joins the head is bad but it wasn't my main focus. Thanks bud.

If you are going for realistic eyes and lids (even on a fantasy creature) the lower lid would be a little straighter across, not dip down so much. Also, that lid seems a little thin. Another detail that helps sell an eye is the inner corner (tear duct area).

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Thanks Ken! I had incorporated a tear duct type construct in the eye but it got lost during the render and post work. Something for me to aim for next time along with adjusting that lower lid. Thanks!

nice character , the ears are a bit weird , they don't seem to be stuck to his head completely , I think it has something to do with the shadow.

Was this done with low poly modeling ? I still need some practice with that. :p

I also like the dots on top of its head , they're funny :)

Guess I am late (as usual) for giving any 121 looks like others have done a good job with that. So I will just say that it looks like you are creating some great skin textures and I love the eyes themselves. As for the eyelids - well they seem to suit her perfectly! What else can I say - she certainly is a beauty.... ;)

Very nice, I really like the updates! Of course there is something I have to ask you about. How did you render that headdress, or how did you get the mesh appearance? Hmm...always something new from you to boggle my brain. Well done! :tu:

DMerchen the "mesh" headpiece was textured with Texture 32 (the grid-like texture) with TRANSPARENCY turned on so the black areas of the texture would become transparent. It was set to repeat 6 times hor and vert in the TOOLS>MODIFERS>TEXTURE menu. I used the Apple material (with a slight color adjustment)as the material for the head piece.

Wow that was easy. Looks 10 times harder then that. Thanks Mental, I was curious about that too. Amazing Final BTW. LOVE THE LASHES!
Did you make them with the fiber or where they modeled? Look modeled to me but then again, you know ZB...which reminds me...they could be snake hook as well  :qu: ...
Thanks again and Excellent image!

lol MtB! No just simple old painted on lashes. Nothing remarkable there. I like to use the KISS method when I work....Keep It Simple Stupid...I constantly remind myself of that while working. :)

Well for KISS'ing your artwork, it certainly turns out beyond such..lol
I will have to start telling myself the same thing so I dont blow hours trying to make eyelashed with 3D rings (thats why yall never see them. )
Thanks again!

Those lashes are great. Mentat, do you bake and then paint on the lashes? Did you use a temp object on a temp layer to provide a surface on which to paint the lashes in place and then remove the temp layer? They look like they are really 3D. :tu:

Mentat7
10-22-02, 02:46 PM
Nah Jay, they are just painted on during post work. I exported the rendered image then imported it and filled a new layer with it. I then used the simple brush to paint them in and then the smudge tool to add a little variation to them.
