Hello,

I'm new to Zbrush, but not new in the world of "CGI". I've had zbrush for a number of days and found it very easy to use. A bit confusing at times when you’re use to other 3D modeling programs. This is however a combination of both 2D and 3D. This is my first attempt at modeling with Zbrush. I started off with a sphere and learned the “push and pull” method (I believe another program call Amorphium does this). I was able to create the head but when I reached the body, I was no longer able to “Zadd or move” any more area of the sphere. So I decide to use Zsphere. This was much better. I was able to complete the model from head to toe and also able to add wings!!! But, I have no idea how to create the membrane that makes the wing itself. Any advise or information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Manguy

Very impressive! Maybe you could help me out, newbie-to-newbie. I know where the zsprere is, but I can't seem to get body modeling down pat, where would I find the black rod-like things in the tool palette?

Again, very impressive.

Thanks, I don't know what you mean about "black rod-like things" are you refering to my picture or something you can't find in Zbrush? If you are refering to my picture...those "black rod-like things" are zsphere moved out to form the wings.
hope this helps!!!

to use the membrane it works only on zsphere that are NOT skin.
soooooooo activate the PREVIEW or hit the letter A when in edit mode then move the membrane slider under
1 :b3:tools
2 :b3:modifyers
3 :b3:inventory
read more here and a short cut tool you can use http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=007986

oh and one little note leave the PREVEIW ON.
then make ADAPTIVE SKIN..
if you want to smooth him out go to
:b3: tool
:b3: modifyers
:b3: Deformation
:b3: Divide
and divide then chose the SMOOTH Slider

Thanks for the info. Got one more. Do I have to move the "wing bone" closer inorder to create the membrane or can I just play around with the settings until i get the desired look? Or a combination of both?
Thanks for your time.

some thing you have to play with but the Thinner the zsphere the more of a Flare you will get it will spread out more like a wing

Ok after a few hours of redoing the wings, I finally got a skin I can work with. The tip that really helped was the size of the zsphere for the wings. EZ thanks again. Now back to modeling the skin. Oh well it’s better then starting from nothing!!!! http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1034978980rdq.jpg

An adaptive mesh can work, as well -- eliminating the "marshmallow" effect. :) However, you might find that you want to model the wings separately from the body if you find that the membrane curvature being high enough to be effective on the wings is just too much for the rest of the body.
