Z Sphere frustration….

Ok I see all the amazing stuff done with z spheres and watch all the tutorials and read all the online discussions…

I am wondering what I am doing wrong here.

My adaptive skin is ending up skinny and malformed…er…from what I can see….idon’t know…

And my attempt to use the Unified skinning has been equally as unsuccessful…note the arms and finger.
I have tried modifying the density, smoothness, sphere density, etc…any help would be greatly appreciated!!
;)

Can you post the tool so we can take a look at it? Most of the problems are easy enough to fix. ie. sphere sizes on fingers and wrists need to be increased for unified skinning to work. Spheres will need to be deleted and moved for maximum efficiency with with adaptive skinning.

It looks like you might need your smoothness settings a little higher. Also the fingers could stand to be a little thicker on the hand.

You're Zsphere model should skin correctly in unified skinning mode. Before using the unified skin button , set a higher resolution and change smoothing from standard (10) to 0.
The Higher Resolution should fix the bumps in your model and the smoothing = 0 should take care of the fingers.

Have you run the ZScripts that come with version 1.5 about ZSpheres? These tutorials explain exactly why the unified skin comes out the way that it does, and ways to correct it. They also explain how to overcome the quirks of the adaptive skin to get a clean mesh.

Also, be sure to check out QuickLinks for v1.51 (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000060). There are several threads there about ZSpheres and how to avoid the most common traps.
