View Full Version : Beast of Burden
This was a little different for me. Needed practice with LowPoly zif skinning and modeling. I included a pic of the original zif model for you.

Excellent modelling, Slosh. The texturing serves as a fine compliment to the beast of burden. All in all, well done :tu:
How did you get the smooth transition between the textures?
Cheers

Very cool animal skin.

Almost thought this one passed by the wayside. Thanks for checking it out.
Hitch and Filament, thanks for the comments. The modeling actually went very smoothly, and was even able to record a zscript on it. I had trouble deciding what sort of texture to use, fur or reptilian. I think it looks more reptilian, do you agree?
Mykyl, I'm not sure if you are asking about textures or materials, so I will answer to both. The texture was completely painted on, after snapping to the canvas. I used a basic material with noise and negative color bump, which allowed me to paint the texture with darker and lighter colors, giving the illusion of different materials. The darker colors are more raised, while the lighter colors recess. The hooves are a completely different material, but I tried to place the areas where it meets the skin material in places that already had a natural crease or change in shape, so the transition is not so noticeable.
Glen! :D Thanks so much for viewing. I know you are a busy, busy man, so taking a moment to comment made my day. Incidentally, you and Mentat were the inspirations for this. Mentat created a beast of burden for his necromancer image, and I've always loved your creatures, so I was striving toward a hybrid of your two styles.
