I am surprised that no one has posted their sculpts of the Prawns from the new movie District 9. I started blocking out a Prawn in ZSpheres and did some basic modeling on the hips. This is going to take me forever so I thought I would share my files (the ZSpheres tool and the skinned figure) in the hopes of getting some you more talented ZBrush users a nudge nudge.

The directory also has some reference materials of the Prawns I found on the WEB: http://www.thedragonsden.ca/prawn/

Noticed that no one has commented on this one... Any way, thanks for the mesh. I'll try to come up with something. Cool idea.

Thanks for the reply! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I am still going to try and work with this also and see how far I can get.

I have also updated the ZIP file to include this updated ZTool for those interested in working with it.

I just the movie and it was great. District 9 had a lot themes going on especially human rights. After watching it I am definitely inspired by and it had left a powerful image for me. I think I am going to build my own little prawn figure. Thanks nakira2ca for the base mesh as well as the reference images. The base mesh is going to be useful in creating my own prawn version.

Messing around with this tonight and came up with a few changes. I used your updated skin.

Messing around with this tonight and came up with a few changes. I used your updated skin.Very nice work defining the head features. Unfortunately I don't know how useful my hands and feet are. I basically just roughed in 3 prongs but they will need considerable work to manipulate, move into place and shape.

Haven't done too much more with this due to time/life constraints as well as the fact that I cannot subdivide the mesh further than level 6, which is a bit low for detail work.

Here's a Geo HD image. Unfortunately I cannot save the the model in HD Geometry... aah

I thought about converting Polygroups as Sub Tools so that I can further divide certain areas of the model and work on then individually.

Any Ideas??? Maybe 3.5 will have a solution???

I think you'll have to make parts into subtools to get the div levels you want/need for this.

I Would Like To Use Your Model Because Its The Best On The Web But I Cant Find The Download Link? Could You Provide One?

Not sure how to put it up for download, but I'm thinking that it could use some detail. I haven't touched it since I last posted. I think that I just picked up the 3.5r3 update and that through me off.

I'm going to see if it will even open in r3. If it does I can upload to ???

:D
