View Full Version : skeleton masked
:) hello! one of these classic drawings, where death is something else...two little things, that maybe helps beginners: to have straight form, like on the side of the hand, you can use a very powerful zbrush function, the mask: as you see on the sample, in 1 you mask a part, and push the other; in 2, the inverse; by this way, you create very sharp delimitation of form, useful also for clothe, ... second, i've joined a black and white render of the character, with scyte, just to show, for those who like me sometimes export zbrush mesh, the very good tip i've learned from matthew: it is in feedback and trouble shooting, called split: you can mask areas, clone the mesh, and delete parts... this allows you to model a whole form, with all the relationship between forms, and make after "groups" (sort of) for differents materials and texture, or for correct a mistake in model... friendly M. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200307/user_image-1058441606bqa.jpg

Thanks very much Marcel...the trips is very useful and I think like you say could be an easy way to get sharp cut with mask ...I have some trouble when I try to cloth some character because they (when I cut with mask)became jaggy in the borders.
Thanks very much for your attention to help the forum...and me of courseĦĦ sometime the simple is the more important oneĦĦ
Congratulations again.
ps: to ilustrate the difficult

Very nice image as always. Thanks for sharing how you put the second one together also. It is always enlightening! :tu:
:) andreseloy, don't forget, once snapshhooted, the smudge tool... this tool is "coming" with a default value of, if i rememeber well, 70. far too much! set it to 12, 20, and you can blut small areas...

Hello Marcel. Nice model and thanks a lot for sharing your hard-earned experience with us (beginners). I wouldn't be here modelling if it wasn't for tips and hints you and other members post here. I sure will do the same for others when my time comes (how long that would take!). Thanks again! ;)
andreseloy, masks operate on a polygonal level. Your mask edge is jagged because it didn't perfectly follow an edge loop. Instead, parts of it crept up into the next row of polygons, giving sharp angles where the two rows meet.
The PolyFrame feature will allow you to see polygon edges while you're painting your masks. When the model is in Edit mode, press F and then Shift+F to activate the PolyFrame. It also helps to have a sharp-edged Alpha while painting your masks.
If you make a mistake, Ctrl+Z will let you undo.
