hi everyone, this is my first time on the board so, i imagine this question is asked somewhat frequently?
anyways i was sculpting a mushroom cap and when i was finished, i wanted to add fibers on the underside of the cap. Well the only problem is that once i start using the fiber brush, i lose all ability to manipulate my mushroom cap ever again. i need to be able to add those fibers and then still be able to reposition the cap's orientation afterwards. if there is anyone who can help me with this problem i would LOVE to hear how to overcome it as i have been stuck for about 2 days now...
also any tips on being able to connect a stem to the mushroom would be appreciated.
thanks!

Hi JPrumers, and Welcome to ZBrush Central!
Try texturing the the gills on to this mushroom by using the TextureMaster ZScript. If you don't already have the Texturemaster ZScript, you can download it either from the ZScript section of the Quicklinks, or the ZScript Library on the Pixologic home page.
Pixologic (http://www.pixologic.com)
You can add a stem onto the mushroom by using a combination of the Multi-Marker Tool, and the Polymesh function. You can find more about these through Quicklinks, or you can take a look through the ZBrush manual. You can download the ZBrush manual from the download page of the Pixologic home page.
This thread will help you learn more about Multi-Markers and Polymeshes:
Joining Objects (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000041)
You also may want to consider making your mushroom out of one object, instead of joining multiple objects.
Here's an easy way to do this:
Select a sphere and enter edit mode.
Go into the Tool:Modifers:Symmetry SubPalette.
Turn on either x, y, or Z symmetry, then press the 'r' button. You may want to increase the symmetry points by dragging the Radial Count slider.
Tip: You can use the 'Alt' key to switch between ZAdd and ZSub while modeling.
After you get the basic shape that you want, turn off symmetry to add your finishing touches to the model.
Load the Texture Master ZScript, and texture away! :)

Hey JP you can also use the SweepProfile3D tool on your tools pallet to form a basic mushroom shape and then deform it to your hearts content. Below is an example. Just Modifify the S and the T profiles to get the base shape. Make sure you set the HDivide and VDivide to max to get a good solid mesh. Then follow along with the other good advice given here to deform and texture it. Happy Zeeing!
