View Full Version : Kentor
08-03-09, 01:53 PM
Here is my most recent work that won the first place at CGCoach’s “Creatures and Critters” sculpting contest. It’s called “Kentor”.
A Kentor is a species of centaur living in temperate grasslands and woods. This is a very peaceful herbivorous critter that usually lives in small herds of half a dozen to a dozen. This one is an alpha male. His staff is never used as a weapon, but rather helps him to reach fruits in the trees, or water when he attached his drinking horn at the tip of it.
I used ZBrush, Max and Photoshop.

Do you when newly creating the fortune thing, write what kind of method?
If and becomes the chance, to inform your work progress.
Zbrush start cold region how much is an elementary person who does not become. Is many being difficult about work progress of now, Zbrush is undergoing.
Or to inform WEBSITE where there is a possibility of learning about the order of work progress in Zbrush.
The compiler leads and from the writing which writes, is a possibility which there will be a real income. Forgiveness wishes.
I was working on a centaur myself...I guess I can stop working on that since your sculpt killed my motivation...
08-05-09, 03:31 AM

Amazing sculpt! No crits. I admire your work. :tu:
08-05-09, 03:26 PM
This is lovely work, I like the way you show your progress also. If you don't mind, could I ask more about your workflow, I'm new to ZB and am trying to work on mine. After you re-topologize, do you then import that as a base mesh and start sculpting fresh, or do you apply some sculpting you have already done on top of the new mesh? If the later, how is this done?
Looking forward to seeing the 3D prints. :)
08-05-09, 03:36 PM

08-14-09, 01:06 AM
Congratz mate, he looks amazing! A truly awesome piece of creativity my friend, as many people have said, I cannot wait to see him in all his 12" of print glory! :)
08-14-09, 11:33 PM
That is an absolutely sensational piece of work my friend, your skill and talent are breathtaking! I have seen so many variations on the old 'Centaur' theme, but this really is something new. The sheer artistry and style lift it well beyond the standard 'monster' pictures we see every day, many people have excellent imagination, but you have combined that with a whole lot more.
The fact that you won first prize simply means that they chose judges with excellent taste.
I love the actual render, lighting and finish you've given this guy. There must have been temptation to add more colour or detail etc, but you have chosen the perfect point at which to stop, and that is one of the hardest skills to develop.
Again, congratulations on one of the best sculpts I've seen at ZBC, and that is saying a lot with the plethora of talent we have here!
:tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
nice work I like it keep i up.
08-15-09, 02:43 AM

Very much like your role in carving~~!!:D
If you do not mind,Can you say the next time you're carving the use of any number of brush?;)
Thanks in advance ~
Have you received the print yet?:)
09-25-09, 04:26 PM
yeah he has I had the pleasure to check it out. awesome!
09-25-09, 05:44 PM
Yes I have!!!
I'm so happy with the results. The tiny 3" Kentor is so cute and delicate, with a lot of translucency and a matte finish, while the bigger print reveals all the details with a lacquer finish.
Those are work in progress pictures:
And you can find more detailed pictures on Moddler's website:
Thank you John for the top quality print and shipping!!! :tu:
09-25-09, 06:04 PM

10-02-09, 07:53 PM
it's always great to see nice models printed :) A very good job on it indeed... though I'm not a fan of those translucent materials, prefer the more opaque prints myself but the detail really came out great on this!
That's HUGE !!!
How big is it? Who did it?
10-03-09, 04:12 AM
