A Hippy-Potamus :D

Mostly done with a unified skinned ZSphere with some additional details added on other layers. Hair was done with the snakehook brush and the lettering on the book was done with a make3d alpha and the lettering on the button was done with simple brush using the lettering as an imported alpha in conjunction with the drag stroke.

I also found that a shadowless spotlight makes for a great backlight. :)

As always, any 121 welcome.

Wonderful little guy! Wouldn't it be great if we could use the snake hook brush on an active model withoul leaving edit mode so the hair is attatched to the model and moves with it? (More Z dreaming). 50.

It has a wonderful feel to it. I almost wouldn't be able to tell if it was computer generated, or if it was a photograph of a sculpture made of clay. Great job.

Lol, I must be tired. It took me a couple of minutes to realise the word play of the title. Great picture Winged, I really like the soft shading on this one.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

I had recorded a ZScript of almost the whole session, but things started to get out of wack after skinning the ZSphere model and beginning the modelling of the unified skin. I posted a note about it in Feedback & Troubleshooting.

I was hoping to be able to post the whole Zscript, but I was able to salvage the Zsphere modelling part of it at least. :(

Hippypottamous2.txt (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200308/user_file-1058300542pky.txt)

To retain symmetry when modelling the face, even though the pose is non-symmetrical I turned off auto-size before skinning and sized the Zsphere model down uniformly in the deformation pallette so parts of the model wouldn't get cut off when skinning it.

Nice work WO! I like that grass, care to share how that was achieved. Excellent stuff! :tu: :tu:

Hi, DMerchan. :)

For the grass I used the fiber brush with a fairly high thickness value and I turned the turbulence value up some. Gravity was set to a negative value and grooming was set to zero. I also adjusted the pencil icon (orientation) in the picker pallette so it was pointing down. That way, now matter what I did or wherever I drew the grass was pointing up.

I also used the grass texture from the texture pallette (a trick I learned from Mentat7 :)).

I turned flat color on in the modifiers pallette for the fiber brush. For the material, I used a basic material with the left side of the diffuse graph raised all the way up to the top.

The grass was drawn on a plane in a different layer, so when I was done, I just used the eraser tool on areas where it was poking through the sandels.

Hope this helps. :)

Hey thanks for the tips WO. I am working on Club Safari Character #2 and he could use some grass underneath his feet. Thanks again!

Thanks for the grass technique again WO it worked quite well. I will have to use that with my next Club Safari character. Thanks!

Oh, and thanks to Mentat for the tips. Together you just might make me a decent ZBrusher.
