Hi all, I have a 45 minute drive home on winding country roads and I use that time to study the landscape, inparticular, trees. I sat down in Zbrush today to try to develope a way to model fairly realistic trees. In nature leaves appear in clumps which vary from type of tree. I put together a little tutorial on the technique. I hope it might be usefull to someone out there. For a closer tree, I would use the standard technique of a photo applied to a 3d plane and drawn individually. But this clump technique works great for background trees. 50.

Hi andreseloy, I was refering to the technique from my last post:

Knarly Old Tree (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=011650)

where a photo is applied as a texture on a 3d plane, the black background of the picture becomes transparent. You can then shape the leaf and draw it individually onto a branch. This can make a very realistic picture close up. I hope this helps you. :) See ya. 50.

Interesting technique! The spray brush can also be used to apply the leaves.

Nice idea 50. In the past I have tried to mimic the clumping by hand using different alpha brushes in various rotations. This looks like a nice time-saver though. I shall give it a try sometime. :tu:

Good deal, Flycatcher, I've got to get off the 'puter for awhile and go where the trees are,...outside. See ya. 50.
