I do not know if this is the place for this or not. I would like to have a ZBrush contest open to all registered ZBrush members.

The Contest:

I would like members to paint, mold, or combination of both a "Coconut Tree". A Zscript must be included with the image. The prize is any item from my web page up to a value of $75.00.
The contest ends on my 65th. birthday at midnight Pacific time.
I hope to have three judges, whose decision shall be final.
If you are up to it, give it a try,it costs nothing, and you may learn or win something.

Check www.handmade.com.ky (http://www.handmade.com.ky) to look at the prizes available.
The judges cannot enter the contest.
BTW my birthday is the 12th of April. Same as Jaundel's. Many, many years apart though.
:D :D :D

I visited your site, wow what beautiful polished items you have there, you are a very generous person to offer such items as a prize to the zbrushers.

I have MANY lovely pieces of DeeVee's jewelry. I can't even begin to tell you how gorgeous they all are in person. the website pictures do not do his artistic talent justice.

They are GORGEOUS!

I get comments ALL the time when I'm wearing his jewelry. It got to the point, I made business cards with is URL on them to hand out. No kidding. :tu: :tu: :tu:

you said :The contest ends on my 65th. birthday at midnight Pacific time.

why i thought you were in your 30s don't tell me we would have to wait 35 years to get a prize LOL..

sooooo your looking for a few good judges
well i have a few good friends of mind who might give you a hand LOL.

is there any chance of a round trip boat ride around the pacific 90 days and 89 nights might be throwin in for a bonus? lol///////......
(j/k)

count me in....

you said A Zscript must be included with the image.
so No import for a texture would be acceptable right?

DeeVee

You are quite right EZ. I would want original art for this contest. I have the judges already selected. Oh, to be in the thrity's again! I have a lot of milage though from which I have benifited greatly.
EDIT: Ron I would prefer if the names of the judges were not known by the contestants.
that way the harmony of the forum will be preserved.

This is a great idea, I can't wait to see the results. I would enter but I don't have the full version :( so I can't make zscripts.

i would like to add one little note.
you said I would like members to paint, mold, or combination of both a "Coconut Tree".
i persume anyone making a coconut and tree are going to add some background.

by adding background is this going to be added in the judgement?

DeeVee
03-14-02, 05:47 PM
EZ what I have in mind is an image of the most realistic "Coconut Tree" how you decide to create your image is up to you. One thing is certain,I am not looking for an abstract.

banez
03-14-02, 07:16 PM
ok i got ya Just (Coconut and Tree)
i was just asking if some one added a background which im sure most people will do.
will this have any effect on who's judging it,,,,
so what your saying (Coconut and Tree)
is what your (judging on ONLY).

Background or any thing else is optional but will not be judge on it.

Dr. jjwow, thanks for the point regarding the ZScript. That was put in because as you know in the past members have done work in other programs and presented it as being done in ZBrush. I am not going to give away my hard work for something not done in ZBrush, sorry.

well, here is my contribution:

http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/coco1.jpg

100% zbrush, though the recorded script (http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/cocoscript.txt) is no proof, as it is going wrong rather soon (when i created the stems). in another session (unrecorded) i changed the lights, activated environmental reflect in the seasurfaces material settings (30?) and environment-scene in the render-palette, exported the bestrendered pic as a .psd, imported it as a flatcolourtexture, filled the canvas of a new document and painted the reflections and some liquid effects into the sea with simple and smudge brush. i uploaded an edited script of the creation of the palmleaf only to the Z-TOOL-BOX (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=004151&p=4)

DeeVee: i wont forget that deadline anyway ;) but thought i’ll contribute asap.

Time is moving along quickly, remember that you can enter more than one image. IMPORTANT:So that all users of ZBrush can participate in the contest. Members using the demo version can enter their ZBrush created "Coconut palm Trees" for an honorable mention prize, which I will decide on at a later date. We do not want any one to feel left out.
LWTB, it can be any image, but it must contain a Coconut Palm.

My suggestion to the participants of this contest is that I take it seriously, and I am sure that the selected judges do so also. PLEASE do a little research to determine what a Coconut Palm looks like, and then try to create an image that can be recognized as such.

ok, next try, kitsch-style:

http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/sunsetc.jpg

this time the script-recording shows a z-script error saying something about a backslash-command... huh? and seems to stop somewhere in between (not that i could press a play-button to check it) - i finished in two sessions anyway, so there would not be a proper recording. i uploaded the leaf-tool i created and used in here to the Z-TOOL-BOX (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=004151&p=4) - water was made the Zoid-way, the sky is the waterplane rotated and perspictively distorted with mucho alpha and bump-brush. mainlight is a pointlight behind the stem, ambient turned off, a few other pointlights to make them leafs a bit more visible. the silhouetted palmtrees are made by simplebrush, drag-rect-stroke using a grabbed aplha of the leaf-bundle in another layer. the smoke on the water seems to be caused by the fog i did to hide the edgy hrizon :)

Since we are headed down the homestretch here I thought I would preserve all these wonderful entries on Z-Place so it would be easy to look at them all together.

If anyone does not wish to have thier image there, let me know.

Dr. JJ, I have only received the selection from one of the judges. I am awaiting the selection of the other judges which I am sure they will send shortly. As soon as I have the information I will post it, and ask the winner to choose his prize as indicated at the start of the contest.
