View Full Version : ZB-3D Collage for T-Shirt Printing

A client of mine wants a spiffy looking shirt design for their camp in japan. The feel we are going for is a touch of 3D..which I found in this thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000478).
Then there is a touch of traditional illustration. Since I am strongly drawn to the feel of the new Zelda Release for the gamecube...this is what I will be doing.

Once the artwork is finished in ZBrush, I will be taking it into Photoshop for a 6 screen seperation process to be printed on both lime green and lemon yellow shirts.
One more final note. The Color/gradients are not final but I feel ZB is going to kick this one over the top.

Sounds like a fun project, it'd be cool to see the final design on a T-Shirt. :tu:

Nice and clean design... why six color separation for a t-shirt?
Seems it would only need four screens to me!?

The screens for both lemon yellow and lime green shirts are as follows:
:b4:Whitebase - like putting down a canvas for
the light colors and gradients
:b4:Lemon Yellow
:b4:Red
:b4:Blue
:b4:Black
:b4:Bump white - to bump the exposed areas of the whitebase to bright white.
Thats the sim-process setup. ;) :D

Well yall, there is good news and bad news about the design. Good news is the client loves the idea/colors and is ready to go with 700 shirts. The bad news is that on this particular PC, ZBrush cant handle a 4 layer file at 2750x2750. So, after tyring and trying, I had to move it to PS7.
Oh well, maybe some other time. I really wanted to see a ZB image on a shirt. Thankfully enough, I am in the rught business.
I have two other possible chance coming in the future...hopefully I can try it again.
Once again, sorry for though who wee looking forward to this...I was too.
Here is the PS Final. They added the Curls text afterward, not my choice but its okay I guess.

looks great Mtb , I know what you mean , my pc can't handle that resolution with more than 2 layers either. Well it is possible but nerve-wrecking to work with :(

2750x2750?
I thought screen printing was limited to somewhere around 120dpi. That would make this extra large!

No Sir, this is Hi-end Commercial Screen printing. Simple Text is at about 150. The higher the detail, the higher the DPI. This is 2750 because it is 11" square @ 250 dpi. I have done shirts for Bud and wells fargo that where 13.5" x 15" @ 350 DPI. We shoot anywhere from 36 to 65 halftone screens, for automatic 12 head presses. ;)
Oh yeah, the res of your artwork and the res of your output to vellum are two different areas to consider. I think you mean screen output. Another thing is different screens for different products. T-Shirts dont usually go higher then 75 dpi output (risknig moirč). Output for paper though is different. That is around 175 dpi (books of artwork prints). A good rule of thumb is to allow 4 to 5 screen pixels..oop!..pixols..lol per one dpi screen output.we are printing at 50 dpi screen output for this job so 250 dpi screen res is perfect.
One more thing, the screens we shoot on are anywhere from 110 double x to 305+

or Zbrush capabilities ?
