As I was making this image, the very 3D vulture seemed at odds with the flatter, 2D style background, so I smudged away most of the detail in the model to make the image work as a whole.
I did record most of the modeling process for the vulture for any who would like to take a look. I used a sweep profile primitive as a starting point, since it was easier to get the initial shape as opposed to staring with a sphere.

Good to see you posting Ken. Your vulture seems to have spotted something tasty, judging by the expression.
One of the aspects of this image I like is the lack of detail on the vulture; works itself into the background, as you say, with much more success.
I'm suddenly reminded of the Roadrunner cartoons. Looks like we now know who's waiting on the horizon for every time that one of Wile E. Coyote's plans backfires. ;)
Great work as always, Ken!

Definite Chuck Jones feel, and your usual fine execution...You brighten my day with your work, Ken, and I always look forward to your next piece! :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:

thanks ken for that cool script.. its a marvel script and it will go down as one of the greats.. thanks again mr brilliant..
I agree, the treatment has given this image a whole different feeling. This would be a great frame to show someone that would like to bring back the RoadRunner using this style. That would be great!
Ken I have to say, you are the master of all you survey. This is awesome. So much potential. I find myself waiting for someone/thing to enter the scene....
:tu: :tu: as always ;)
The Chuck Jones look wasn't what I originally intented, but his work has been on my mind since he died recently. So it doesn't surprise me that the style crept into this image. It's funny the way a piece will impose its own will on you. I was struggling with this image at first, because I refused to let the 3D "look" go.
bailey, I haven't animated a model fresh from ZB. But I have modified meshes made in ZB for animation.
Thank you all for the comments. Glad you liked it.

absolutely gorgeous pic, Ken! as i just found the 3d-shading slider in the render palette (it only took me 19 months to do so :D) i wonder if playing with these settings might have helped to adopt the vulture to the 2d-background too? a veryvery inspiring piece of z-art it is!
