View Full Version : Ghost Lady at Water's edge (SunSetupdated 02-04-02)
This is a project in a whimpsical mood. I Began to paint the lady but I did not like the way it turned out. I tried to smudge it out, got this far, liked what I saw and decided to give you folks a look. I will paint the lady in the not too distant future. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1012627394okc.jpg

Nice... :tu:
Very painterly, DeeVee, and I hope you keep the lady ethereal, and misty as you proceed.

this would make a really cool background.. cant wait to see the model put into this one...
Neat. :) A very cool combination of abstract and what looks like a landscape on the right. :tu:

I agree with Dr.JJ...I looked at it and thought of a storm rolling in or a water spout forming...kewl experimentation ... :tu:

This is the finished image, at least to me. SC, I hope I kept it the way you wanted, if not, maybe next time. I am quite satisfied with the way it turned out as it protrays the image I envisaged before I started. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1012674563xmp.jpg
GORGEOUS!
This needs to be matted and framed in gold.
I love this wind swept sandy scene.
DeeVee this is just outstanding. :D :tu:
Coming from you Kat, I humbly accept your assesment as a compliment. I decided to go back to my pastel look painting ways. One to see if I still could, and two because I found that my style had changed dramatically in recent images. This image has restored some of my confidence in the fact that I have not lost it all.

Your best one yet, Doc!!! :tu: :tu: :tu:
To me, this is an Impressionist masterpiece, and I heartily second Kats suggestion, and take it one further...I think you should check on large professional print formats, (Kat could probably help you out), and have a large format print framed!
Wonderful and perfect!
An Edit: That motion you got in the legs just hit me Joe...This is a masterpiece of painting!!!

wowzer deevee. incredible piece of art that you have here.. thanks for the image...
I would like to thank all those who commented on this image, and also those who did not. As mentioned it was done to prove a point to myself, which I think I have proved to my satisfaction. It is against my nature to paint like this all the time, although there are those who would rather see me do so. The truth is, I am enjoying myself, and at any age that is most important, especially since these images are done as a learning exercise, and not for earning an income.
I have been playing with various colours for this image to try and change the mood.
This is the first of what I hope will be a few.
This is the image on a moonlit night. Please let me know what you think. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1012800515rig.jpg

Hello DeeVee,
I prefer this image without the night light - your ocean in the day is how I would want to experience it. :D
An absolutely marvelous image - Bravo :tu: :tu: :tu:

Wow I missed this!
They are both beautiful, I sensed the power of the sea and the wind in the first one. This one emotes, like you say, that moonlite stroll along the beach. Amazing what color and tone can do

the moonlite adds to the ghost-feeling... but for some reason i dont know (probably because i fell in love with the first version at first sight) i like the daylighted one better... both are outstanding masterpieces, anyway!!!

DeeVee,
Your technique here demonstrates an incredibly effective oil pastel technique and you've also captured the hues of a seascape beautifully.
Look forward to future experiments and insights.

Fabulous. I would hang this in my home (both versions) right now.
Blue is my favorite color, and this piece captures the best of blue!!! :tu: :tu:

Frame them both, DeeVee. Beautiful artwork.
Continuing with the experiments. I decided to see what this image would look like at sunset.
Comments on your preferences would be appreciated, as I have had a few requests for copies. Or do you think that I should do all three ? Please, the Old man of the Zee needs help !!

This last one is my favorite. I would like to see all three as a panel set...
Beautifully done!

Although I like your experiments,Doc, I think you nailed a perfect Impressionist painting first time through, and I'm already making the custom mat and frame for my copy! ;) :tu:
