View Full Version : Couple o' Eye questions
Ok, i know how to model and paint eyes but i have a question. Is there a way i can align eyes easily? It is very hard to make them look the same direction once i place them in the socket. Please help.

well the only way i know how is, once you have one eye positioned and sized the way you want it, snapshot it with the camera looking button in the TRANSFORM panal. then use MOVE (not in edit mode) to drag the eye over to the other socket. it will make a duplicate so you have one unmovable in the socket where you put it first, and then the other one that is in edit mode. hope this helps.
Ive been doing that but when i move the object, it goes into the background and it wont let me bring it forward. Im gonna try it again right now and then ill post. thanks anyway....yep, i got it!!! I was clicking on the wrong axes when moving the eye. Thanks white rabbit.
Well, one way to aim the eyes would be to use the point-to feature of Digit'sWidgets script and point the eyes toward a look-at point.

Hi,
LWTB: Good info already written above (Thanks :) ), I will add one more detail…
Following the snapshot of the first eye, you should use the transformation-gyro gray ring to move the eye to its new position. By clicking and dragging the gray ring, you are instructing ZBrush to displace the object (left/right/up/down) without changing the depth or the orientation of the object. This will allow you to easily place the next eye to be in the exact depth and orientation as the first.
Hope this helps :)

Only problem there Muvlo, is you would end up with a cross-eyed expression! ;)
Thanks for the information. Thankfully received and greatly appreciated.
thank you very much everyone.
LOL Stonecutter. However, doesn't it point it by looking at the X, Y, and Z of the point-to? If so, just place an object, say a Sphere3D, in front of the eyes, then pull it forward a lot. Then the eyes will not be looking at eachother to much. :)

I'm a newbie, but this one I can answer! When you have the 1st eye placed and looking in the right direction, open Transform/Information and write down the x,y,z coordinates. Then, when you place the second eye, use Rotate (not in edit)and type in the same coordinates.
