The New Alpha Library -- In the Download Center

One of the great things about ZBrushCentral is the incredible sense of community that we have. Not only are people happy to answer questions and help out newcomers, but many of you have gone above and beyond by providing free resources. In fact, so much free stuff has been given out that most of it is unknown -- buried deep within the forum archives.

To remedy that, we have spent the last few months scanning through old posts to find the best of the best, gathering everything in one place and organizing the content for easy accessibility. Our first content compilation, the MatCap Library (http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/library/) was a resounding success with literally hundreds of materials to choose from at the start and more added since.

But we haven't stopped there! Today it is our pleasure to introduce the next major addition to the Download Center:




the Alpha Library (http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/alpha/)

Organized just like the MatCap Library, the new Alpha section contains a huge number of grayscale images that are ready to be used in ZBrush. They can be applied to brushes, converted to stencils, made into masks, used for fog effects... and that's just for starters! Alphas are one of the single most powerful tools in ZBrush, and thanks to the Alpha Library (http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/alpha/) you're sure to be able to find just what you need for any occasion.

But I need to ask a question before I´m going to make a mistake:
Which is the right folder for Alphas? Zstartup -> Alphas?
And is there also a limit of 20-25?



Edit: Well, after a short time of thinking I remember the Alpha+Texture Loader.
Up to 250 images per tab...
I´ll download this Plugin now.

When I saw all these great Alphas I must have lost my sanity. *LOL*
Hope one day I can download some extra wisdom, too! ;)

I have the same request "any ways to just download everything in 1 link", there are so many alphas in the library and it is tedious and boring to download individual alphas ,it kinda discouraging the purpose.

I guess this is the same for the matcaps also. Hope to see a single download like for each category.

the back to gallery should be available at the bottom of the alpha library interface

it really hard to go to the top everytime and click on back to library


i know that for some thing good stuff like this you have to work a little bit

Here's a "but", though! I am getting this error when attempting to download an alpha:

"This server can only be accessed by the proper referring server."

I second the requests for a package download. That would be very nice.

Just wanted to add my voice to the request for an easily downloadable pack.

It's greatly appreciated that Pixologic have done this, but if you don't present it in an easy to download and install package, it just becomes something that only people with a lot of time on their hands can be bothered to get.

Yes, other people are having this issue. We've been trying to find the cause, but have been unsuccessful so far. If you have a download manager, try disabling it.

Something just occurred to me, though: Out of curiosity, do you log out of ZBrushCentral? If you're logged out of ZBC when you try to download from there, that might be the cause.

My screen just freezes on the loading page and I get an error in Internet Explorer that says there are problems that prevent it from being displayed properly. The error reads that line 33 char:2 Error Sysntx error, Code:0 pops up as the problem. What can I do to get it running? Hmmmmm?

You must download the file from the library itself. The only time this issue has surfaced is when you are just using a link.

Are you downloading from the actual library? Are you on a MAC or PC?

Awesome! I want to have all the alpha's, but its going to take me ages to get them all, imagine clicking more than 500 times to get just 250 alpha's :eek:

I know I am not the only one who mentioned this, but could you please create like a download icon where you can download all the alpha's, per group, at once? That would save us time and we will really appreciate that.

So please could you consider doing this?

hey this might help anyone

if you face any download problem with the alpha library

i would like you all to take notice of this

1.check for the browser version you have if you cannot go on with internet explorer use some other browser like opera it will ease your work

2.check the plugins

3. check the antivirus (might face problem if its on)

4.if the download is not possible check the script that blocks within the browser

5.disable them all

6.and ya its all there in the browser settings

and ya downloader wont create any problem only the antivirus might block

any help lemme know

The Download Center is awesome (as is the move to ZBC server only image uploads).

Any chance we can get a Brush Library added to the Download Center. There have been some nice ones in the forums and it would be awesome to have an easily accessible repository for them.

Hey guys,

just want to let you know that we are working on updating the alpha library and yes there will be a download all button. Some of the files will be removed as after careful testing have proved to not be as useful as some. Plus we are getting new ones from artists that I'm sure you will all enjoy.

got zbrush a few days ago and i absolutely love it!!! I am learning of course and as always have questions...but with this site and the tutorials i am learning mostly on my own. but here is a simple question...when it comes to the alphas, i just downloaded the alpha+textures loader...and when it comes to downloading alphas and textures etc...etc...when i download an alpha, can i just create a folder and place it wherever (desktop for example) and store all my alphas and textures and so on from there, instead of loading them into the zstartup/alphas folder within the zbrush folders? I noticed when i downloaded the alpha+textures loader plug-in it gave instructions on where to un-zip it to, but the aplhas and textures etc ect did not that i am aware of. So basically, can i make a folder, call it alphas and textures or whatever and place it on desktop and when i want to load some of the downloaded alphas and other items i can just go into that folder to get them and put them into the alpha+textures loader??? I hope this made sense cause its something i really want to know. thanks for your incredible site and all the help...you all are amazing, and extremely friendly. Thanks again, (I hope i get an answer soon LOL)

just to answer the question from the previous post, the answer is yes you can create a folder, call it whatever you would like. Then when you load alphas/textures into the alpha/texture loader the tab in the alpha/texture loader will take on the name of the assigned folder and all selected alphas/textures from your selected folder will load into that tab.

There is a great example of how to do this in this thread which features instructions and a video to walk you through these steps.

Is that not doing it for you?
