View Full Version : Kathy's Cove
This small cove is one of the best off shore snorkeling sites in the Cayman Islands. It is known locally as Smith's Cove, but I have changed it up a bit and renamed it "Kathy's Cove", in honour of our Kathy, who is now back with us. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1015825892ygc.jpg
that is the most inviting water i have ever seen, this ones going straight onto the wall next to my computer so I can zonk out and daydream about snorkling. its really supa dooper.

Truly inspiring Grand Master DV! I love how the foreground foilage is blurred bringing your eye to the far shore. Excellent water technique as always! :tu: :tu: :tu:
Thanks to all who commented on this image. Those who asked for a ZScript on how the water was done are directed to the QuickLinks. There is an abundance of techniques presented there, quite a few by me. All I did was spend hours practiceing water, as I thought it was important enough for my seascapes. Many members will remember that for quite a while I was on a water kick, from which several methods were developed. So in a nutshell, the information is already at your disposal, all that is needed is practice.

I agree with what everyone said about that water. It's incredible! I'll have to take a look at those water tutorials when I get the chance.
Thank you SO MUCH DeeVee :D :D :D :D
What an astounding piece!
The water is breathtaking.
The perspective is exciting.
The colors OH so inviting.
THE BEST I've seen you do, and with my name on it. :D It almost makes being so sick and missing in action, worth it.
I shall print this and place it in a frame.
You are such a sweet friend. :D :D

i agree with Kathy, that water is great!
nice and clean image. i like the bushes
Absolutely my favorite so far, I didn't think a person could truly find a palette of colors that does the caribbean sea justice, but you did!
I can almost feel the sandflies stripping me to the bone!
Thank you all. Several members have played a part in the methodology used in painting the water in this image. First Zoid who responded to my cry for a script on water, then Kaz and of course Pix who contributed in the ripples thread. Then there was my hours of eperimenting with creating different types of water effects. The change came in the image in Zoid's thread when everything just clicked, from that image I could see my painting of water improving. I think that I will move another notch when I can achieve consistant results when using layers. For this I have to thank SC and Aurick. In all I am pleased that this image makes someone happy.

Wonderful image Joe...Between you and Juandel, I guess we have a couple of Landscape Masters! You keep forcing me to repeat myself!
THIS IS YOUR BEST ONE YET!
:tu: :tu: :tu:  :D  :tu: :tu: :tu:
That is what aurick said several images ago, havent heard from him lately. Thanks SC, I always look forward to a comment pro or con from you. I still have to master the layering technique. My results have not been as predictable as I would have liked. After your information and Auricks tutorial I thought I had it licked but alas that is not the case. I have to go and practice, practice practice....

Beautiful work !! a lovely vacation- Thank you! :tu:
Robo my friend thank you so much. I have not had my daily laugh :ex: what is happening?
Thank you DeeVee. That was just I wanted to know. If we need high skill for it, I just stick to Bryce (very easy) water for the present time. However, I like to learn a turbulent like high wave someday , which probably is hard to make using Bryce.
:) :) :)
HimiCo,If you would like to do rough water, I think jaundel did a zscript on creating rough water, it should be in the QuickLinks. I do not own a copy of Bryce so I cannot use it. StoneCutter has me hooked on trying to do as much as I can using ZBrush, believe me, if you are not an artist, you just have to put in your hours of practice, and read the comments in the various threads, that is what I did, and one day it will all come together. You will then find that you create better images more consistantly .
DeeVee.
