View Full Version : The turtle
When I first posted my turtle, I had done something wrong and felt I'd lost the quality of the original modeling. Adding the actual reptile made me screw with the shell too much. Anyway, here is the original shell model, which I really like. Thought I'd deleted it, but found it in an obscure folder, so this is a repost of sorts.

Great modelling, S! I think you might be interested in the result of small adjustments in the Material->Modifiers->Color Bump slider...
:tu:  :tu:
You also might like to add a little noise, followed by enlarging the noise radius...If you tweek it, you get really organic looking material...a Noise radius of about 12-20 might work really well for this color scheme...
;)
I REALLY like this one. BRAVA! :tu: :D :tu:
Thanks for the tip, SC. (and Hi Kathy!) I think those are some of the things I did when I "screwed it up", although at the time, I had not much practice with modifying the materials. I could probably pull it off better now. Maybe I will (although I'm not sure seeing this shell AGAIN would necessarily serve any purpose)
You are on your way. I think you have it anatomically correct so far. the colouring is also just about right ,I think it could be a little darker IMHO, so far a great start.

Slosh, wether you post the shell again, or not, is pretty much beside the point. The biggest thing here is what knowledge you gain thru experimenting with material modifiers. Give it a go. Personally I would enjoy seeing the results, as I think you've got a fine start here already. :tu: :) :tu:

That looks really good :) I agree with what the others said. It needs to be a fraction darker; and upping the color bump slider would do wonders for it.
