Simple Brush Alpha Painting in 1.5?

In 1.23 I used to paint on skin textures with simple brush and ZADD with a low Z intensity onto my tools before I baked the layer. But now in 1.5 when I try to paint onto my tool with simple brush none of the details seem to show up. Is there a new way to do this or am I just missing a step? Thanks in advance.

What you should be doing is RGB on in the Draw palette, and ZADD turned off.

The Z modes add or remove depth. You don't want that -- you want color, instead, which is RGB. If you wish to paint with color and material, then you would use MRGB. The RGB Intensity slider determines how opaque the color is.

Thanks for the quick response aurick, but I figured out my problem as soon as I went back into Zbrush after posting. Apparently I didn't click off my current tool hard enough to select the simple brush tool :D .

As I hope you can see, its working fine now. I'm doing the monster Grendel from Beowulf for a school project? Anyone familar with the story? I'm planning to make some nice claws from Zspheres to add to this guy, then comes the baking and fibrebrush. Ooooo Grendel was bad but I want to see Grendel's Mother! Or maybe even the Dragon..... heheheh. I loved the story of Beowulf. I have read it in both the modern English interepretation as well as in the old text (which is rather difficult and not so much fun to read). Very nice interpretation!

Yep, our English teacher read it to us in Old English and modern. I think I recognized one OE word out of the whole thing. The story was great. I believe a good deal of The 13th Warrior was inspired by it.
