View Full Version : Need Help So I DONT Lose My Work (AGAIN)
I lost my last "sculpted" 3d head. Now I finally have another one (yes I am slow), and again, like the last one, it has so much potential. So I do not want to lose it again.
So could someone tell me how to save it so that I can come back another day, or time, to continue transforming it?
And when I bring it back to the canvas, what settings do I have to set in order to go straight to transform?
I have had the problem of not being able to sculpt because I could not get into the correct mode (the icons would not click on), so I do need to know what I have to do so I can continue to transform the 3d sphere.
I hadda do it, I saw it in the sculpt, and I just had to do it. It is sticking his tongue out. :)
Thank you all :) :) :)

Assuming you dont have the demo... You save it as a tool by clicking "save as" in the tool palette... Then when you want to re-edit it at another time, you load the tool back and either press "T" on the keyboard or the edit button in the transform menu.
I should have added that I DO HAVE THE DEMO version.
Thanks anyways, still hoping someone can help me out.

Sorry Kitty
But with the demo you can't save a model in 3D !
Just an image !
So you must work in one session!
You can also don't cut off your computer

AW Frenchy, being slow is not so good in this case. When I try to go faster, that is when I make mistakes.
Could you tell me what the other steps would have been to "finish" the head after sculpting? I know there is texture (added thru alphas and/or material?), and the skinning, and painting?
Would you just let me know the steps I would have to take to have actually completed this head.
Take care, and many blessings cross all of your paths in your journey in life.

Hi Kitty
The best is loading this script of Ken Brilliant
Pixologic (http://pixologic.com)
Section ZScripts/Tutorials
It's an Alien head in 2 parts
Modeling and texturing
After seeing it you will have a very good overview of the subject :)
Hope this help!

actually frenchy , I think ken's script doesnt work properly from 1.55 on.
I think somebody mentioned it a long time ago :p
LOL I dont know if above is true about it not working, but I have discovered that if I print the ZScript, all my answers are there :)
Meaning, all the answers as to what the "settings" should be, and what all the decsions were made while the program was making the choices. It is all in the printed ZScript :)
Thanks :)

Hi The Namek
If it's true, it's a pity because I never seen a such enlighting scrript!

Tell me truthfully. When you are modeling a head, and then you start to get those spikes, you know what I mean (you may have to think way back), but you know....and eventually you are trying to get rid of the spikes.........you can't get rid of spikes can you.....I mean, the program really is not taking material away, it is just indenting it with its Z Intensity. So say if you have really deep eye sockets, they are gonna come out the back aren't they?
Tell me, if you have spikes, is it just better to start over? Is it basically a no win situation.
And you know those creases you get sometimes that look like a black line, but you just can seem to get rid of them....punching it in is not going to help that is it?
In actual sculpting what you do is wet your hand, fingers, and rub the sucker out smooth. Is there such a tool in ZBrush so I am not fighting the black lines, which end up getting me into trouble because since I continue to fight the black lines, I then start making SPIKES!!!
Starting over, and you guys that can make absolutely smooth skin, you have a talent I want LOL :)
Thanks
You'll find a lot of answers in the QuickLinks. It's organized by topic to help you out.
To texture your model, the best approach is to use TextureMaster. Simply load that ZScript and run its built in tutorial to learn more.
The next version of ZBrush will have a Smoothing brush for while you are in editing mode. It will allow you to smooth out creases, spikes, and other flaws that can creep into your modeling (sort of like wetting your finger. :))
