I thought I would post this as it seems not everyone has fully grasped the full potential with it. You can achieve this effect (as has been mentioned several times now) through the use of light settings and material settings (most notably in the diffuse curve settings) You can play around with the aperture (which controls the amount of shadow spread across the image when the ray count is turned up) and you can play with the HDR settings and diffusion curve in the material settings to get various effects. There are many things that can be done with this and it can be tweaked almost infinitely. I figured it would be easier to have the lights and material to observe as a sort of starting point. I encourage you to experiment and develop your own render settings. I developed my yellow plastic and chrome materials from this same procedure.

The material:
GrayScaleBase.ZMT (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1031588333btu.zmt)

The Lights:
GrayScaleSoftShadowGI.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1031588439edl.zip)

Thanks Mentat7. In the absence of documentation for the moment many aspects of lighting in ZB remain obscure. This will definately be a help.

This is something I've been playing around with for a while too. It's great for making skin textures as well as other translucent materials such as jade, wax, soap, etc. Something that you couldn't really do with ZBrush 1.23b.

Darn, just after I spent hours figuring it out for myself, you post these! Well, I'm better for the process, and you've probably got a trick or two in these files that will be new to me. THANKS! :tu: :tu: :tu:

Thanks Mentat. I've had a play with the new lighting settings, but have to confess I don't really understand them so far. I think this will be very helpful. :tu: :tu:
