goldo_O, thanks for the support:D and Harmonic...
Knoweapon shifts in and out of dimensional reality, so the Light is a really important part of the sculpt. This initial image is his appearance as he's midway through dimension-shifting, so he appears as a being of Light. When he fully condenses into 3D reality, he is a solid form with flowing energy threads around him like the picture illustrates.
I AM envisioning that the action pose will be illustrating when he is channelling energy from a higher dimension and reforming the reality around him. Such as the below image, but with a lot more energy and Light!

Head shot sketches, made from a single polymesh sphere primitive. I was doing a study of hero archetypes, narrowing in on his look. I am heading towards a very handsome Asiatic or Polynesian look, with very strong features. His eyes and face will be very calm, mirroring his mastery of awareness and concetration, like a samurai and a Buddha (see link HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:StandingBuddha.jpg)).
I need to brush up on my hands and other anatomy, so back to zbrush!

I'm getting into hand modelling, I want to strengthen my hand sculpting capabilities.
Zspheres are great for producing beshmeshes! However, Making digits on the hands and feet has it limitations. I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of zspheres when it comes the aforementioned, so I decided to take a little time and attempt to accurately produce decent topology from the beginning. The above diagram is what I came up with :). Its workable however there is no getting around the need to retopologize after a certain point :P

Knoweapon has a model physique of the future, as it seems we are evolving to be taller and more beautiful :D . He stands at approximately 8 heads high, flowing within the proportions of Leonardo Da Vinci's conceptualized ideal, which based off of the Golden Ratio. The fibonacci swirl, seen everywhere in nature, including our bodies, (see below images of the shell and hairline diagram) is the Golden Ratio expressed.

Did some more looking into constructing Zsphere hands, and found a method that is a lot simpler than the previous method I posted! See Below. The Caveat of getting this Zsphere build to work properly is the Adjustment of the "Ires" slider, to a value of 2.

looks like you might have to retopologize the hand.

Very nice update, SOLcreator. And I do like the color scheme of Knoweapon. And I think the Ryu's force build up pose would be an interesting pose to apply on this character.... It would look extra cool when you pose the character with his cape all floating....This one's going to be great, man... :tu:
BTW, you've got such cool sense of design/color. Somehow I kind of like the Gray/Blue ..with no red...for some reason...maybe because it looks more calm....and more fitting with his name..."Knoweapon"
SOLcreator
01-20-09, 11:25 AM
Thanks SolidSnakexxx for affirming the colour scheme :tu: . This really helps me :) . I really like the white and grey too, and I think I will only accent it with small amounts of colour.
I meditated on it and saw some amazing visions for him, totally surging with this white/blue energy.
I've taken the concept as far as I need to insofar as the story and design goes, now I am shifting my focus to the sculpt :)

Hi SOL!
I like the curves on your outfit! The neck and shoulders areas should be very interesting!
Like Snake I think you should avoid the red and stick to the blue/grey/white scheme. You have a very unique style so far, and I can't wait to see it transposed in 3D :)

dustbin1_uk, all the images on my thread are being hosted on my server, and I just realized that I did not permit the "http://209.132.96.165" URL to hotlink on the back end. Sorry about that! All fixed now :)

01-23-09, 09:16 PM
Thanks dustbin1_uk and fluxist8070. The thing about the cape fluxist8070 is that adds a tremendous amount to the story of the image. The final shot will have a lot of energy and turbulence, so a cape is needed for the story of the shot.
I've spent quite a bit of time studying and perfecting how to make a good mesh from zspheres, and I am really happy with the outcome, especially the hands. :D
It's been a while since an update! Had to focus my energies elsewhere last few days, but here we go with the basemesh.
Cape was a lot easier than I imagined. I use a plane, pushed and pulled it (and use Deformations), and hit Extract in SubTool palette, 5 min.
Stay Tuned!

BANDD, Moni-Poroni thank you thank you for the love and support! Don't fret BANDD, all this pre-prepatory work has been laying foundation for the really good stuff to come :) I have a "master plan" hehe...
This challenge has been such a profound learning experience for me, really taking the time to LEARN Zbrush, get into what each of these knobs and sliders does and how to build proper geometry. Prior Id just throw down some clay and start mashing away at it! Don't get me wrong, Zbr is great to create that way, but I have a little *lil' technition* inside that likes to have keep his ruler in his pocket and likes to have all his boxes neatly stacked, if you get my meaning :p.
Okay back to sculpting. More to come.

Quick update: Sculpting sculpting sculpting :D. I've been studying Zac Petroc's amazing male anatomy figure, primarily (this man is a genius... thanks Zac!). As I refine the sculpt I will be introducing other source references, and perhaps adding a slightly exaggerated feel, giving him a more super-real quality to his visual language... though Im not sure at this stage, still too early to make that decision.
I'm really looking forward to his costume and face sculpting phases, and slightly dreading the painting phase and am in wonder about what the final render will look like!
More to come :tu:

Okay, here we are with the semi-refined sculpt of Knoweapon with his costume applied on to him (via quick Photoshop'ing).
I'm really liking this semi-transparent cape, and think I will carry it through to the final design.
Tomorrow I finish the body sculpt, including the head (which is a goofy box mesh at the moment), sans costume and fine details. I'll be working back and forth in PS and Zbr mocking up the costume lines , see what works and what doesn't.
Comments and suggestions welcome... I would like to know what sort of fabric/sheen/weave his garment could be.

The transparent cape is a great idea but probably hard to render in a 3d print fear. But maybe not, maybe there are transparent materials for print and one can print the cape apart and fit it after.

Thanks - FoOD -, threetails, SolidSnakexxx :D. Good question threetails! I feel really pleased with the overall body, torso, arms and legs have good anatomical structure. I have been having huge problems getting the hands right, and I don't think I'll work on them any more until he's posed. Face has a good general form, but far too kid-looking and needs more work.
The render you see with costume is a quick 15min mockup, and by doing mesh extract it poses new challenges, as some detail is lost. I know there will be multiple materials applied to a skin-tight costume, and it seems like either I take this route, or I paint different materials on the one mesh, and experiment with hiding seams.
Anyone have experience with this and could help me make this choice clearer?
Okay back to work!

I've been on such an adventure the past month, working on my character for the action hero contest as well as another project very close to my heart. I have learned so much and grown so much as a creator, its been fantastic to running next to all of you with such amazing skills and creativity!

This scene is rendered in Vue Esprit. I was intending to create a final image where Knoweapon is as seen in his gold form, rising out of the sunrise of a scene like this, but more panoramic and epic.
The star symbol is the Earth Star he received in chapter 3, which was to be the symbol on his heart chakra.

As I mentioned back in post #108, I am bowing out of the contest so I may hone my focus on other special work.
Love and blessings on successful and magical creations!
I look forward to seeing what you have created when I return from my travels :D
