Who ever made the decision to cut it from top 10 should feel ashamed of themselves you dirty bird!

Congratulations Food...awesome Job one of my favorites !
(still strange you're not one of the 10 - can't get used to the idea(oops reality)
Yes... It was a disappointing to not see you in the final! Realy stunning work you've maid:tu::tu:
it's totally unfair, but the number of post saying this makes that part quit obvious....your a winner in my book anyway, great respect food!
The judges were given specific criteria on which to score each entry. Those criteria were the same things laid out in the contest rules. They didn't just look at the finished results; they also looked at the whole process. Each judge scored every single entry on each of the things that they were looking for, resulting in composite scores for all the finished entries. Those scores from all the judges were then combined to create the total composite scores that determined the finalists. The system was far from arbitrary. In fact, it was designed to be as fair as possible.
In the end, Gra 'Nox placed number 11, missing a top 10 slot by only 2 points on the total composite score. That's a fraction of 1%. So it was VERY close!
We understand that in a contest such as this everyone will have certain favorites. There were a LOT of really amazing, top quality entries. But there were only 10 finalist slots. It was impossible for everyone to see all their favorites. Some really excellent entries had to get edged out.
The fact that it didn't make the top 10 does not mean that Gra 'Nox (or any other entry, for that matter) wasn't phenomenal.
I'm not going to say how any other entries placed with the judging panel. As far as I'm concerned, everyone is a winner. But I did feel that this particular case was a good example of how a great entry might not have made the top ten.
I think you guys should reconsider the score count for the next contest,
because I understand that it's not all about how the end result is looking, but it should be the main factor.
For example there are in my opinion some entries who DID make the top ten but were unoriginal and not that well executed...but they made the top ten because they DID interact alot with the other contesters(for example)
This still IS a ACTION HERO CONTEST, and the real GOAL is to produce a good looking hero/villain, it's not a social-contact-contest.
So that's the reason i do not agree on some of the entries who made it to the final ten...
But hey, i'm not a judge ...so...

I have loved comics for years and always wanted to create my own comic villain but man It was harder than I thought................ so I was quite nervous entering the comp.
The comments and encouragement I received from all you guys really kept me going, motivated me and constantly made me push the model ............for this I thank you all and I am very grateful to all of you .........you guys made this model happen for me :D:tu:
I am very proud of granox and for a while there, I just thought I was fooling myself but rereading all the feedback from you guys really helped.
I was pretty bummed not to make it ..........but hey you get some ....you loose some
being disqualified might have felt better
Well trying to keep motivated and started a sketch book so I can keep practicing and try to sculpt more often then once every couple of years
also want to say thx to Kev - for bouncing many ideas around with me - thx bro
It was a great comp and was happy to be part of it - kinda
Again thank you dudes - really really much much appreciated

I'm also puzzled by this, this is a very high quality sculpt, done (from what I can see) entirely in zbrush, he was active on his own thread and others, the pose is awesome, and it fits the super villain theme perfectly. No offense to the artist who made New Born Hero it's a really nice sculpt, but I think this fits the theme of the contest a lot better than the artist's baby in a room full of toys. Just my opinion, but I think the judges really messed up on this one. Again, no offense intended.

All these messages tells you that it was a moral victory, but you should have been given the chance to be voted by the community.
When I saw that your work was not in the first ten I too thought that the judges had got something very wrong.
I agree to judge within strictly objective criteria but the criteria were evidently wrong on some count.
Dude, you so rocked that piece out!
I was pretty shocked to not see you in the top 10 but you should be proud of the work mate.

nice work, you deserve the honerable mention, it is a quality pc. well done.
Dude you have the best executed sculpt on here hands down, it is really nice. I think you just missed the mark on the texturing and rendering, not to be hard, but once you bring your texturing up to the same level and attention to detail as the sculpt this thing would be sick. I still think you should have made the top 10, your final image just doesn't do your sculpt justice. Keep it up bro!

Furio, I'm really really glad you got honorable mention...something of a vindication. Congrats buddy. :)
Honorable Mention was the one and only winner chosen by Pixologic. All others were selected by the independent judging panel, followed by the ZBC community vote.
We were really torn between Furio and one other artist. I won't say which because I don't want anyone to feel disappointed. But both artists were extremely supportive and helpful toward their peers. Both provided a lot of information about their projects. Both really epitomized what ZBC is all about.
In the end, it was you the community who made up our minds. The way that you rallied around this entry showed us that Furio had really inspired people with his character, and that was enough to tip the scales.
It should be stressed that the prize was for community participation rather than the artwork itself. But we're very pleased that it also happened to go to someone with such a great model. It's going to be neat to see how Gra 'Nox looks printed!

You really should have been in the top ten. I don't know what the judges were smoking when they decided against putting you there. Not to say the top 10 were not top-notch, but yours was head and shoulders above some of the top ten. In any case, you've definitely proven that your skill and help are valuable above the rest.

It's pretty cool to see a community come together and rally around artwork like this! I have to say it's not something you come across every day. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. : ) Major grats on the mention, you should be seriously proud, that's one powerful monster.
By the way, if I'm ever feeling down or inadequate as an artist, I try to remember my attitude when I was a kid, and how I would draw all day and goggle at artists that did stuff like this, wishing I could be one of them. Well, the cool part is you ARE that guy your kid version would have looked up to, Eh eh? XD Anyways, peace!

Awesome, simply love it!. I have one idea.... You should do a render with him drooling a little magma, and maybe have a large crack or two oozing out some magma... Just my thoughts
FoOd, that latest Gra'Nox pic is stunning! Would love to see that as a desktop wallpaper... (drool, drool,...) :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: !
Anxiously awaiting the print pics!

3d print is nice. Like I think I said before...This was by far the
best entry I saw during the duration of the comp. I followed it closely
every time somethin new was posted and it kept getting more
and more detailed. I remember seeing the shots of the forearm and
thought "this is nice, this guy's pretty serious".
Didn't have time to enter last year, maybe I can give u a run for your
money if you compete this year:D
