Artist Name: Daniel Adami

Background

Major Johanson is a voluntary in a program created by the United Nations in the future with the objective of preventing a large disaster that will result in the destruction of the Earth in the future.
He arrived in the 50’s and has been here since then, with an apparent slowing down aging, protecting the Earth and its inhabitants from Super villains that appear, apparently the same way he came.
Valiant is able to fly, has super speed, is very strong and recover from injuries with a amazing speed. Use your power to defend the weak and oppressed, always seeking justice.
Since it arrived, He has no news of the future and not knows exactly what the event which will start the destruction of the Earth. But is always ready to stop the threats that come from the future with the hope to come back home and see a new world.

Love the concept sketch very much. He's like a superman from the future!

It would be cool if he "has" some kind of knowledge to roughly where and what will attack. This will enable him to be more strategic in his fight. And the more he changes things by eliminating his foes, the better the future.. but again, with the changes, his knowledge about what will come also change and more twisted or something. Cuz, just my thought, it's kind of odd coming from the future not knowing anything at all about what went down. Other than that this is a cool idea. Look forward for your ZBrush sculpt

Brilliant idea! :D

I love the look and style of your model.

About the pose though..

It seem a bit off for the period. A bit to 1972..

I think it would be cooler if he had a more low key pose from the age, like a 19th century boxing pose or a strong man knuckles at hips flex.

Eddie; Oh, he's from the 50ties! Never mind then. Your concept art looked more like turn of the century. I totally get the flash gordon pose then.
Note to self; read first, then comment..

Oh...how did I miss this update.... The pose does look very valiant and heroic. Really great work here :tu: :tu:

01-20-09, 09:37 PM
This is looking good, can't wait to see more updates. It would be nice if you push the pose a bit more so it looks really dynamic, just a thought, regardless this is looking great.

jp_smith
01-20-09, 09:42 PM
I kind of disagree, this character has a very classic golden age feel too him and i think if the pose is too aggressive or "actiony" it'll ruin the feel of the peroid that he's inspired by.

Etcher: Thanks!

DiegoMaia: Thank you buddy, I'm glad that you liked.

thomasfenger: Thank you very much!

SolidSnakexxx: Thanks man!!

Hamilcar: Thanks!

cacacho: thank you man, I looking for a more classical pose to Valiant, perhaps you like the new update.

jp_smith: Yes, I don't want to exaggerate excessively in the pose.

Just some updates in the clothes, hairs and some adjustments in the pose.
I'm still thinking about the base

Looking good man this guys got nice pose

01-22-09, 05:09 AM
I like the char design but maybe you should turn the head a bit to his right (He looks like someone watching his own fist... lol)

Captain Sensible
01-22-09, 07:51 AM
This is looking really good. Nice pose. His ear looks a little strange though.

Etcher
01-22-09, 08:56 AM
I think the pose is is great: this way he reflects a certain sense of authority that comes with age and experience (I'm assuming he's not in his twenties or thirties). :tu: !

maxinkuk
01-22-09, 09:21 AM
I like it a lot and his attitude is perfect, authority and seniority.
But to be honest I'm not so sure about the pose. He doesn't look much like he's taking off for a flight, and his stocky figure makes one wonder if he can still fly. If he was on a clearer "landing" pose, at the end of a flight maybe it would be better.
What I'm taking about is quite a big change that would involve changing the whole angle of his body compared to the terrain, moving all his limbs in one or the other way to comply with the action and also making the cape follow his action, gently falling but still quite up mid air.
What do you think about this?

D Adami
01-27-09, 05:07 PM
SolidSnakexxx: Thank you. Yes...I used some pictures of Mr. Connery as reference

- FoOD -:Thanks man!

boblenain: Lol, I'll adjust this, thak you.

Captain Sensible: Thank you! I'll work more in all face :D

Etcher: yes, its true age is around 90 years, but due to its powers its apparent age is around the 50 years old.

maxinkuk: First I planned to use a pose similar to the one that you described, but I think that I would have some problems with the stability of the sculpture if it was printed, then I chose the current pose because I think that it matches more with personality and attitude of him.

hey daniel!

solid work, dude. really like how you done the beard.
is it just the camera-angle or is his left hand a little stretched and flat?

and then a small reminder, though i'm sure you already know... everything should have thickness. due to the prices.

Yes, I know about the thickness...Is there something you think is too thin?

Moni-Poroni: Thank you man.

hey dude!

very nice poly paint.
about the question. i was just concerned about the cape. but then again, i don't know how thick it has to be in order to get a decent print.
now, back to enjoying your great work:D

SolidSnakexxx: thanks a lot man!

Etcher: Lol, thank you.

abyss103:Thanks dude!
I do not know anything about printing, but if I have some time remainig, I'll try to increase the thickness.

Here, some updates in polypaint, I think it's almost there...

Looks all as solid as your great sketch, and the graphite polypaint is very apt, that's effective art direction I'd say. Well done man!:tu:

jp_smith
02-11-09, 10:43 PM
I think I prefer him as a bronze to the poly painted version...not that your paint job isn't good, but he just looks like a great Alex Ross old school hero statue. :) I'd take those highlights out of his eyes and use a different material...it really screams painted at this point. Good update! :)
