View Full Version : Action Hero Dr. Root
Super Nature vs Chimical Industry "the revenge"_ good choise for your base and better for your theme.
The polypainting in zoom out works very well on the character (I was right haha!)...perfect job again!
Courage Chris!:tu:
ps:I agree with JP_Smith about the leg, but personnally I think it's not importante at this stage because you have many détails on your model and my eyes doesn't focus on it, do change it only if you have the time.

Love the added vines, gives him an even sicker silhouette the he already had!!! The base is just as equally cool dude, Congrats on a new piece for your portfolio :D

Thanks a lot, SolidSnakexxx, - FoOD -, Harmonic, chindian, Captain Sensible, MonteCristo, weirya, GregStrangis and JUPITER for all the kudos!
jp_smith - Thanks a lot! Yeah I just assign smoothing groups to all the hard surface stuff and use the "import and crease" to get the hard edges. Thanks for taking the time to illustrate your suggestion. I went ahead and tweaked the leg and I think it looks much better now!
spimmy - Thanks! Yeah, I decided to attach the largest floating chunk to the broken pipe. Hopefully it still looks like he's ripping through it.
So I have a turntable done but the contrast is really low and everything is very desaturated. I might have to redo it. Also, I've uploaded 2 videos to veoh.com and it's taking forever for them to process. Anyone else experience this? I'm glad I didn't wait until the last day to do this.
Here's a test render. The base elements have too much spec, so I'm working on toning that down right now. This image also has the flying debris which will not be in the final and I had to change "Mobil" since we can't have anything that has a copyright. I don't know what to think about the rendering yet. I really should have spent more time learning how do to do it properly. I can't really get lights to look very good at all. I don't know. I may keep tweaking it.

and the base is.... awesome!
and the render comes along nicely, too.
really love the idea. nature against human.
the amount of details is nice, and the expression is so strong!
very nice piece!!!
but the floating parts could be a problem if you want to keep them.

Wow, this looks so well done. Love the style both the sculpt and render... Top notch quality! :tu: :tu:
Awesome base! Beautifull painting!
Good luck for cleanning and render Chris:tu:
This is looking so sweet Chris, if you are still experimenting dont forget you can do multiple renders in zbrush and comp them in photoshop. I personally like the comic effect you have which is highlighting the root texture, it adds that stringy bark feel.Maybe you should consider changing the company name (just in case you win) to something nonexistant ,may I suggest Enron.
PS you may want to check this out it may help.

This guy is definitely one of the stand outs. It's just so hard to pick a winner with so many great entries in the top 10. But, if I had to guess, I would say it's between WITIKO, NERVE, and your DR. ROOT for the top spot. We shall see. ;)

An excellent entry all around. I was amazed by your concept already and the final sculpt proved you are one great ZBrush master :tu: :tu:

jackdaniels666 - Thanks, Ian. I just have to say how much I enjoyed Draco's backstory. My favorite part: "I vow from this day on to get everyone high...even babies." LMAO! Great job on DankWing and I especially liked that he had roots growing out of his side. ;)
jp_smith - Thanks Jason. Awesome job with Overwatch. Yeah, it will be tough sitting on the sidelines this year with DW but it will be fun to watch nonetheless. I'll be looking for your entry!
Webhead - Thanks a lot! I really hope to end up in the top 3. That would rock!
SolidSnakexxx - Thanks, Yong! I loved Mantis Man and watching him come together was amazing!
threetails - Congrats to you as well, Cameron. When I first saw the expression on Witiko's face, it looked so realistic, it took my breath away! Awesome job and good luck with the results tomorrow!
Lucky_1 - Thanks, Luc! Man, I loved Blabjab! I was so bummed that you weren't in the top 10. I love your work and thanks for following my thread!
bryzol - Thanks, Konrad! Congrats to you as well! I loved Sting Lady. She really had that film noir vibe going. Very cool! Good luck tomorrow!
wethand - Thanks, Jan! I loved the fun concept of Mr. Fish. The getaway pose running off the dock was awesome! Thanks for following my thread!
Moni-Poroni - Thanks Monja! Great job with Deaf Destiny as well! That was one sexy villain who looked like she could rock (or shock) any superhero's world! ;)
spimmy - Thanks Imkan! Loved your entry as well! La Femme Chocolat looked deliciously dangerous! ;) Great work!
Thanks again everyone for the encouragement throughout the contest! That was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the freedom of not dealing with UV's or poly budgets. Way more free-flowing than working on a Dominance War character and I learned SO MUCH about zbrush. I guess I've finally "leveled up." :D Still lots to learn though.
Hi cmoffitt! Again, congrats on making top 10! Hope you get to finish the new site soon, cause I'm eager to see more of your worx! :tu: !

Massive and magnificent. Well deserving of top dog. As already mentioned, your site is also over the top cool. The demented RC squirrel bully is great.
Your 2d skills match the power of your 3d work. I think it's safe to officially call you the 12,000 megaton Nefarious Vegetable Eco Terrorist of the CG art scene right now.
Can't wait for your Dominance War entry. You put on an awesome show.:tu:
Looking forward to your interview and tutorial. I humbly request any anatomy and 2d shading tips you've picked up to make your work so freakin' amazing.
Congratulaitons on . . . everything, basically. Amazing performance.
