The 3 headed dragon is quite an interesting subject to sculpt. I notice 2 of the three heads are smaller than the middle head? Imagine the pose where he's charging fully and his long neck twist and turn with all the Transpose glory.... Looking forward to this!

Looks like a good start there, adroit.jr, One small critique might be on the arm as I think they are a bit odd. May be you can start at this stage placing the landmarks like the elbow/joint etc. As right now the arm stretch as one long piece like a log. So it's very hard to see the proportion of this area.
Oh...also you might want to sculpt at lower res up as it's a lot easier to define form when the ply's relatively low... (At least for me...as when I start to have too big of the polygon number it seems to be a bit hard to do mass adjustment....so what I always do would be going back-lower the subdiv-and make sure the form's there even at the lower level of subdiv) However, this method may not be for everybody as I do notice some great artists also able to sculpt at a very high poly count number as well.
Again it's comign up nicely....please post some more
Oh, I LIKE this creature/character!
I have always been interested in the 3 headed dragon. It will be much fun to see him tranposed!
Good overall body shape. The arms do still look a bit rubbery, but topology will fix that soon enough.
VERY imaginative Villain. Godzilla with 3 heads, a machine gun and big sharp knive, and LOTS of flexibility...Wow!

dragons are always fun to make with ZBrush.. he he
I suggest.. working on the arms at lower subdivions level too.. also the lower leg area could use some work...
but you said you only have done work on the chest.. that is looking the best :tu: .. so excellent progress there..
I like your sketch.. very intense. Also the main dragoon head(not neck area) seems a bit short .. it may be the view but it looks more dynamic and longer in the sketch..
keep posting.. your doing fine...glad to see use of zspheres..

Here is update I work on arms a little bit and head of main dragon,chest.wip2.jpg

Looking much better! I really am glad that you have added the 4th finger. I was going to mention that but I thought's more of the design thing. But with 4 fingers he'll definitely look more "right" and with him able to hold the blade..I think 4 fingers would do much better than 3
DAnconia
12-27-08, 10:31 PM
Nice start.
I would give him a much wider and thicker back since he has to support three heads. Maybe broader shoulders as well.
Keep it up!
adroit.jr
12-28-08, 04:33 AM
SolidSnakexxx: yes 4 figure is easy to take weapons, therefore I added forth one as well.
DAnconia: I'm thinking about that too. and I want to get the shape after that i will use retopology.
there is update.wip3.jpg

12-28-08, 07:31 AM
It's getting into shape, good job so far.
A suggestion on what you just said, I think it's better to retopogize after you sculpted in the bulks of the model. Doing the other way round means that you'd end up with lots of stretched polygons where you add bulk.

adroit.jr, it seems like you have advanced to the next level already with the new topology.
If I may, I think the topo on the horn area is quite odd. You can see it from the green adaptive skin image. What I normally do when I redo retopology is that I set the max strip length to 4 so that it will always either be a triangle poly of quad. Also I've been trying to avoid tris in ZBrush as when it gets subdivided, it gets some odd poly distribution.
good work man! you had the courage to do zsphere and retop, i took the easy way out, nice progress

and here is some test wih subtool.wip7.jpg
and also i'm adding the machine gun in my character. can everyone tell me how to fine the refence regarding to that machine gun.
Coming along really well, I would curve his abs a little bit though, right now they look a little bit too straight imo.
For that gun reference, just google "gatling gun"

The dragon with added gun will be a real crazy villain. For the guns you might want to visit these sites that I've been using as reference as well.

SolidSnakexxx:thanks
here is little test with Machine Gun.wip8.jpg
And is there any option to convert two subtool=one subtool.
SolidSnakexxx
12-31-08, 09:58 PM
Wow, that's some machine gun you have there. :tu: Looking real mean..
For the process of combining the subtools this is how I general go about:
1. Select the first subtool in the subtool palette. Then go to tool > Clone..This would create a temporary model outside of the model you are working on
2. Then I'd go about cloning all the subtools by selecting the each and click clone. (For the easiest possible way you may want to make your subtool remain at 1 subdivison-no other subdivision levels. to do so you can click in Too>Geometry> Del Higher or Del Lower..so that the current sculpt of the subtool is the only subdivision left)
3. Now after cloning all the subtools needed. I'd go slect the First subtool I cloned. Then go to Tool>Geometry >Insert Mesh... once click it will prompt you to select tool to join. Remember if you have multiple subdivision level, it will not work (You may remove the subdiv level at this time if you forgot to do so at the cloning stage.)
4. If teh base model and the model you are about to join have no subdivision level, it should be able to brought in as one.
5. Keep adding other tools you have cloned until you ahve all subtools combined into one.
6. After all the addition, I'd reconstruct the subdiv so I can gain back the subdivision modeling adavantage.
7. Go back to the original model which you ahve all these parts as separate subtools, then delete all the subtools you have already combined (Be sure to save your tool out first). Tehn append the new tool (Which now has all subtools congregated as one)
the other method which is a lot simpler is to use the Plugin Subtool Master/Transpose Master (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=57154). With just one click you can combine all the subtools.

I like the pose... very threatening. The dragon's really got a massive gun. my suggestion at this point would be adding the bullet belt to the machine guns so his accessories would be an integral part of his design. Looking forward for more

Looking quite cool so far. :)
From the side view I see the character is tilting forward quite a bit but that may be fixed when you repose him. Also just another thought as he's quite top heavy, it might be a good idea to balance him with a tail or something which you can add with subtool or something. Look forward for more updates.

I like the armour design. Good work! :)

01-17-09, 09:06 AM
It's looking good but yes the tail could be far longer, twice or three times longer, then you'd be able to use it well in any posing.
I'd also orient it to make it clear that the tail is an extension of the spine.
adroit.jr
01-17-09, 09:22 AM

Your character is coming along nicely good job. the advise i have to give you is maybe sculpt out the inside of his mouth out and give him a tongue and some teeth....

Lookin good! I like the design. It would be good to see that tail whipping round in the final pose.

sazar26: thank you for advise and i'm there is alot of work and i'm going to sculpt teeth and two more dragon. let's see what i can do.

Test with Transpose Master.pose.jpg
SolidSnakexxx
02-01-09, 07:02 AM
Good progress there adroit.jr. :) I see you have somehow chopped the mod section of the character by transposing. I think that could be because the mask you created's a little sharp. In my experience, I think transpose tool works real well at lower subdivision. As it allows you to control mass of polygon and easily blur the edge than at the higher subdiv.

SolidSnakexxx: Thanks for advice.

adroit.jr, Looks like you are getting used to Transpose tool. It's one of those tools that you need to spend time to get used to. I think the pose is nearly there..if you have some environment where he's destroying would be awesome.. :) And I'm looking forward to King Multi Dragon's in full color too.

Hi Adroit.Jr!
Nice start for the posing man!
Looks like you have some stretching with the right forearm pad. I had this problem a lot with my character when I used Transpose master. Sometime I wasn't masking the leg properly, and few clics later, I realized that my boot was all deformed. So I had to go back and redo it again.
After a while, to make sure I was masking at 100% all the subtools I wanted, I was individually showing them with CTRL+SHIFT+LMB and CTRL+LMB in the canvas to invert the mask. This way I was sure that I was grabbing all the points I needed.
If you plan to make your character standing on the ground, I'd recommand to create a polymesh3D plane, and import it as a subtool. You will be able to hide/mask it easily in Transpose master since it'll have a different polygroup, and it will be a good visual help to pose the feet and toes.
Keep it up Adroit.Jr! I like your dragon face a lot, and with these spiky fingers, I think you can make something really interesting with the hands pose!
