Chyan: The Chaos Chronicles

In another world, long ago, a young woman of a royal lineage, Chyan, lived and died. Her father was the pharaoh who unconditionally trusted his captain of the guard, Fradamaak. Fradamaak, a truly evil and corrupt man, with his dark magick controlled the ignorant pharaoh. In his evil quest to become pharaoh himself, talks Chyan’s father into her being betrothed to him.

One fateful night, Chyan, in order to flee her demise, disguises herself in plain robes and steals out of the palace walls. Only to discover for the first time, the slaves of her father. During her escape she comes across a very young and innocent boy, a slave. He helps her, without thought of who she might be, to hide from the guard. She felt the kindness and wonder of this boy, and for the first time in her life she felt for someone other than herself. Later she would come across the boy being beat to death by Fradamaak. Before Fradamaak could land the final blow to the kind boy-slave, she stepped in the way of his blade. She used her small dagger and slid it into Fradamaak’s side killing him along with her.

Because of her last act of kindness and sacrifice, in which made up for her ignorance in her life, an angel had come to take her to heaven, While making her assent she becomes a hybrid angel. In seeing her sacrifice, and against the commandments of the high lord, the angel had fallen in love with her. In his blindness of love he did not see the demon soldiers stealing upon them. Chyan was dragged down to hell.

While in hell, Fradamaak makes her eat the food of the dead and she becomes half demon as well. One night, she spied the Lord of hell, Lorad, and Fradamaak talking, in which she overhears the evil plot to dominate the Earth above and Heaven itself. She had to get out and warn her people and see if she could find her love struck angel to warn him as well. She escaped, only then realizing that Lord Lorad and Fradamaak had planned this from the beginning, only someone with the blood of an angel could tear a rift between hell and the surface of the earth.

Fradamaak, following closely on her heels, led a company of demons to the surface. They scattered to the four winds. Since it was she that let them out, and the angels not being able help her since she was a half demon blood, she sets out on a quest to put all the demons back into hell where they belonged. The demons she found could take possession of any slightly corrupt soul. After many years she finally came across Fradamaak, in her father’s temple, nonetheless. While in her father’s body, Fradamaak got the upper hand and trapped her in a small sarcophagus. He brought the whole roof of the temple down upon her, and with his dark magick he sealed the temple. Under tons of rubble she slept a dreamless sleep for near 2 thousand years.

A modern day subway company, while finishing up the end of a tunnel, broke through the wall of the temple allowing her escape. With no memory of who she was, or what for that matter, she sets out into the strange city to discover a whole world she knows nothing about, a world full of strange devices and technology she had never imagined. A world that was quickly going to hell in a hand basket.

Frightened and lost amongst the strange tall buildings, she comes across a little girl being kidnapped by an evil man. She sees something that no one else can, this man was a grotesque monster, a demon. Not knowing why; she felt she had to stop this demon. In her battle with the demon-man a, skeptical, mortal and strangely familiar, detective helps her. Will she be able to find and beat Fradamaak? After learning she is half demon and can not set foot in heaven, will she sacrifice herself to seal the rift and stop the world from going to hell? Stay tuned…….

Powers:

Hybrid angel and demon: hero unless some situation needs her to be a villain
Immortal-undead (can be killed though, but it isn‘t easy)
Fast healer
Can run pretty fast and jump fairly long distances
After she fights awhile, she gains the knowledge of some magic, including animal spirits and being able to turn into some for a limited time
Can fight with ancient fighting skills but learns some new stuff in the present day
At the end of the series she gets a pair of black wings and can fly.
Maybe has a buddy like a phoenix?


Weapon knowledge: Swords , crossbows, sickles, axes, handmade whips with sharp metal points at the ends that hang from her body and hair (so she can even do damage when she whips her hair around, and anything else that she can get her hands on.


Age: About 28 years of age give or take a few thousand years.
Place: She starts out in a forest/jungle like place and ends up in an idustrial modern day not too much unlike our own New York City.

O....I'd love this character takes ZBrush form any day :) She's like a lost hero in modern days. This can be a cool looking lady hero you have here.

I like the backstory! The part about finding herself in a large, modern, city, with no experience or understanding of where she is.

This will be a great character to watch develop. The hair plaits are awesome!

C-Mad - Thanx for that. :D I hope one day to make her into a online comic series and short online movies flicks. She has been in my mind for years but my lazy muse never came up with a story for her :mad: , no story no model, I had to know where she came from before I knew what she looked like. Well my muse finally woke up a few days after the contest started. I had fun making the hair.

I know I will lose some points on this but I have issues with z spheres... and topology I am too impatient with it for retopping my model unless serious prob I do use topo for most clothing items so I will use it there. Most everything else will be zb. Model imported obj. from Makehuman freeware program. I had to bring it into 3dsmax and sew the head on and fix a couple of polys and remove some isolated verts. Makehuman is a really great program (it has some probs like not being able to save, just export and some pics for the morphing aren't there but you can still use the buttons for them. It reminds me of poser but easier for me to control and of course free is always great. You can make children to old people and some very interesting characters. I found out about it in one of the threads on zb central right before this contest.

I ripped the teeth out using zb before I took it to max for refinements so that I could have them on a separate subtool and control them more. The eyes are mine from zb mesh. I learnt how to make them looking at nickz's really cool free model, so thanks for that. I learnt some of the polygroups from him and the birth tutorial.

These are my polygroups all done. I hope I did them right. I am hoping to have better control with masking while doing the transpose stuff.

These are the detail I have started. I have only worked a little from the chest down to the thighs so far. I want her strong but also soft and beautiful. She will have more weight than most of the comic she-heroes that I have seen save a few like Joseph Michael Linsner's Cry for Dawn. (one of my favs).
Don't get me wrong I love comics like aeon flux and stuff but Chyan is not about :cool: stealth and stuff she is a kind of seek and destroy you kind of gal. Some may even think her soft and beautiful... but the only thing holding up her halo is her :evil: horns:evil: .

My updates on her should be coming faster now that I have done all the technical layouts she needs (for now anyway :eek: )...polygrouping takes me a while and I probably didn't do something right lol :mad: ....now I get to the fun stuff till I get to somewhere I messed up...thank god we have more than a month to do this :D .

I hope you all like her :) , or hate her :p depending on weather you are a hero or a villain lol....I know I am such a cornball :rolleyes: ...any way take care and happy zbrushing.

Looks like a major update there, Seavannah. Just minor crit on the breast, I think it seems pushed together to the center area too much?, like she's wearing tight fitting bra or something (Or is that how you are going to have her be wearing). Other than that, you are off to a solid base start. :cool:

yeah I am thinking a corset or something tight wrapped. I don't want them in the way when she is fighting. I did make them a bit big but I haven't done much to them except for blocking them out they will be better soon I hope...she is due in surgery soon lol. I have mainly paid attention to her hips and that lower part of her body and giving her a bit more weight. Thanks for the complement on the major update:D ...it seems it took me forever just to import her and polygroup her...I just started having fun last night with the detailing:D .

I love the detail of your concept!!

A great story gives substance to any character!

The one observation I have is that women heroes and villians in almost any comic book, tend to have well rounded bosoms and the uncanny ability to have them ignore gravity! ;)

The only other bit is maybe thicken the upper arms up a bit.

But those are small preferences rather than real crits.

That aside keep going!! looking great so far!! And the detailed concept has sparked my interest.

dustbin1_uk - thanxs for that you saying that means a lot for I just love your stuff. I have yet to detail and shape the breast I just wanted to block them out a bit till I do the clothing that will be holding them in and causing them to be shaped a certain way thinking corset or a metal something or other, I have not got that far I can only see the bottom half and the back of her in my head lol. My muse is so evil sometimes, should of made a villain muse super or something lol. Hey that's an idea...hmmm maybe another time....lol.
The arms I have ignored so far lol...they are a bit hard for me...I want them strong but soft and not too fat that balance will give me some trouble I think.

She is certainly taking her time showing me bits and pieces....great she's already got an attitude lol....

You are off to a really great start with the form on your character!

My only critique would be regarding the topology - you seem to have quite a few poles and triangles that could make it more difficult to sculpt on top of. They also tend to create pinched-dot looking artifacts, if you smooth over them at higher subdivisions.

It's not a big problem really, (since you could change the topology any time you like) just the only thing I could pick at. Looking forward for more updates!

Fess -:D Thanks for the comment. Yeah I need to retop her. Don't know how to do it quickly...When doing retop it feels too much like my max days, just pushing the little hard to see dots around and not accomplishing anything..lol
I Like making cloths with it though.

There was a movie I found not to long ago about how to retop quickly but the movie wouldn't play for me :cry: and now I can't find it :confused: . If anyone knows what I am talking about please let me know where it is or if you have a tip on how to do it quickly would really appreciate it.:D

Anyway here's my updates not much yet but I was getting tired of the naked look...lol. I still have some major work on her body and the texture that is sorta on her is not going to stay it was just a try at reference texturing...That was so much fun I want to do it again. I have to, when I detailed some more on her the texture went all wonko :eek: .

I will probably change the color of the dress and the bra may be metal not sure yet just letting it go for now. The dress will be fashioned regardless with metal clasps and it will be draped and flowing...I hope..lol...Glad there is more time to finish in this contest :D , I am just not as fast as most of you :o .

Big update, Seavannah. It seems like you have enhanced...the breast as well. I kind of like the smaller version as she'd look more agile with that set. :o Other than that great update :)

your model is comming out nicely. Can we have a side shot of her body a ortho one? Her boobs bother me alittle. some reason it looks its causing her to bend forward because they are so heavy/big. Maybe its just me.

Yeah I know she is scheduled for a breast reduction tomarrow. I am too tired to do it tonight and wanted to get the pics in before Aurik came a calling...lol. I don't like them either I want them more smaller size... a little bigger than before though. I had to do that cause of the underline mesh problems, namely the base model, I think I am going to retop her very soon cause there is some funky skin problems going on with her underneath those cloths...her breast were the worst and her unmentionables lol.
Anyway thanks again and will update the pics hopefully sometime tomarrow.

Edit: Why I put more my size I can't even figure out what I was meaning, I think I was trying to say a more smaller size than what she has. I must of been more tired than I thought last night...oh well damge done and no she won't be more of my size. Mooni - Thanks for the link for snoopalu :D and caring about my poor mutilated model lol. Still have to do the head and hands, and then she will be back and hopefully better than ever. I did 8 hrs yesterday and then had to delete a lot of the retop lines and realized I didn't really get much done :cry: . well got it going late last night and my hands are now steadier for this major overhaul. I was retopping in my mind when I finally set down to sleep :eek: . I am like you need only a few hours of sleep i am a major insomniac lol :eek: .

snoopalu - yes retopping is very difficult but needed.

:D Maybe zb will allow us to say that after retopping it becomes our base model and not lose any "bonus" points for the small use of an outside program (in my case very small cause I will be changing quite a bit of structure. I love zb but not to fond of Zsphere's sorry being honest, and you still have to retop the zspheres anyway, for human like models :rolleyes: . Take care all and good luck.

Gohanf22 - thanks for the compliment :D . I envy those that can use the zpheres as well as you and others have, I just can't stand them except for the rigging ability for topo and posing. I wasted lots of time on them on the scared silly contest.

Hello all sorry bout that I got the flu and surgery took a whole lot longer than anticipated. Here's a few pics I hope to have more later today or tomorrow.

I know I didn't do everything right here but ohhh well it's my first time retopoing. Now it is an easier fix should I run into some problems later. Everything on that model was messed up and so many triangles not to mention it wasn't symmetrical in the least and had to do it from scratch.

Not only did she have a major breast reduction (more to come soon cause she'll be wearing tight corset and still have to shape them after the projection) but she also lost over 1 million pounds I mean polys lol. :D

I have been madly zbrushing all this time excepting guest time and bday time. I have had some major difficulty with the zproject brush especially after getting it all zprojected and cleaned up, she ended up with some spiky polys in her eyes, mouth and hands. I then found some more of those great tuts that, I none the less already had but never tried. Found the projection in the rigging and topology pallet and used that. After some :lol: major funny blow up pics:lol: I finally achieved something close to the original while keeping my new topology. If I had known and read the tut I wouldn't have wasted so much time and frustration on the zproject brush. I now realize that is for deforming and small details and the projection pallet after doing your retoplogy is best to getting your form and detailing back from original model. I learnt something. I may post some of the funny blow ups for some :lol: SAGs :lol: (s**ts and giggles).

Here's my updates it isn't much yet excepting she was roughly (with cloths on and all about 3.5 million polys and now weighs in at about 1.3 million polys :eek:.

Not sure on the clothing color yet just playing around right now. I need her textured and to see her skin color before I mess with her cloth colors. Also fixed her leotard/g-string thing to fit her new z-ize (hope ya don't mind mooni but I really like the cute zbrushing slang you came up with I had to use it as well lol :lol: ).
:lol: One thing I learnt on Sunday was Laptops and stuffed Tummies don't work well... lol. I must of dropped my laptop on the floor 5 times lol :o . Thank god it still works lol.:lol:

Hopefully since all of the technical pre stuff is done I can have some fun. Updates should becoming a lot faster too.

Her belt, weapons (small handheld sickles), her head gear, hair, boot soles, knee and shin protection, gloves, protection for her arms, braided whips, base and not to mention detailing and texturing all this.....tick tock (:mad: bangs head against clock to try to stop the time:mad::rolleyes: :mad: )...:lol: J/K:lol: ....well this should be a bit more fun and hopefully easier.

hey Seavannah, great start wtih the model there. you may want to have a look at the proportions you have going there, at the moment they seem dwarfish, if you look at dwarfed proportions in humans (unlike midgets) there body stays quite small were as their heads continue to grow at a normal rate, stunting the size creates muscle groups to form around the neck and girdle. take a look at burne hogarth, i hate his style but his porportions are amazingly dramatic. and also looking at her profile u might think about curving it slightly, although it may not be instantly recogniseable as a major change from the front, it will make your reference fit to its contors.

henrysouth - :D thanks for the comments and crits. I just noticed that I shrunk her waist length too much some where in between topo and projection.. oops she shrunk too much hot water I guess. Thanks for the heads up I knew something was amiss but my :eek: tired eyes:eek: couldn't see it. I probably won't make her too tall though I want her shorter than average comic hero but not stunted. lol.

SolidSnakexxx - thanks for the kind words and encouragement:D . I haven't even started detailing her yet or texturing. As for color still trying to find some mixtures I like. I kinda like the red but not sure of the metallic shiny stuff. Her pose is going to be her slaying a demon with her sickles in motion. My base will probably (if I have time) Chyan slaying Fradamaak with thick solid smoke like stuff, maybe even fire and skulls. Only other idea is her about jump from a building roof top or in the start of a jump with sickles out and or her holding one of her braided whips.

Here's my update. I probably won't be posting any more pics untill Friday. I will probably be testing and making sure videos work for me in a day or so in middle of posing her. She just don't want to bend right. Anyway here's some updates on her weapons, eyes (the texture is my eyes and I think I want them another color on her, not sure though), a bit on the face (though I am not done with it yet), clothing and boot fix (wich I still have more to do).

Here's my first pose ever using transpose master. She's in the the process of jumping off a building top. Am trying to upload one movie into youtube. I am gonna work on this till the last second if I can or fall asleep not sure yet lol. I hope this is my trans pose movie it's a little over 8 mins long. I never posed a model fully before using transpose master so please bear with me lol. What a great plugin I had fun and learnt so much here. One thing though my glove belts didn't work took me a couple days to figure that out so they got tossed with the garbage ohh well I kinda like them gone anyway. Good luck all.
