Great presentation!
Human beings may well be his favorite food but I bet that if you catch him he'll make a splendid fish soup.
Action in the abyss, fantastic, I look forward to see this through.

Like an X-file case of monstrous creature. This would be a cool material for ZBrush sculpt.
Definitely villainous looking. Quite scary!
He'd make a bitter soup IF you could catch him!

Thanks again for the Comments...
Tomorrow Gonna be a Glorious day for genoma Bureau... our Scientists gonna show the first 3d Model of the creature...
Thanks!
Your backstory and "photos" or posters are so artistic, it makes me wonder how you will ever have time for the actual contest work! :p But if you can do that just to announce the hero, then I can only imagine what kind of work you will crank out for the contest. Best of luck, I can't wait to see what's to come.

As the Modeller of the creature The Genoma Bureau ordered me to be where the action happened.... This will make it more realistic ...
I'm taking the next flight to Borneo, then to some isolated Islands, where the legend born... to hear from the natives more consistent stories...
Before that I would like to share with you some advances that I've been making on the Sculpt...
Thanks!

You're coming along very well with this.
The thing that I notice first about this is that the head feels just a bit small in proportion to the rest of his body. Maybe it's because it gradually comes to a point at the top, I don't know. Otherwise he's looking good.

Make sure that every element of your work is as good as you can possibly sculpt it.

Hey Y/Hauss. Your entry is coming along nicely.
One thing I'll mention, is with a complicated form like this, with all sorts of protrusions and tentacles, its easy to get distracted from making sure the central figure is working.
Its difficult to tell for certain from the angles Ive seen so far, but the arms (with the claws) strike me as being a bit too short and ill-articulated. They dont quite look like they could do much except flop around at his side a bit. They dont, for instance, look like they could bend forward and pinch your head off with those scary claws.
Its always difficult when you're trying to meld two different anthropomorphic standards together...in this case a human and a crustacean. My advice would be to pick one or the other that you want the arms to most emulate, and make sure they are constructed to look like they could convincingly move like that creature's arms.
In either event, I think they need to be a bit longer. Since the figure is ostensibly humanoid, it should adhere to roughly humanoid proportions as a base.
All in all, though, you're coming along nicely. I just wanted to get that little proportional critique in before you did too much detail sculpting. Feel free to stop by my thread and return the favor by nitpicking my silly model. It's quite boring compared to your imaginative entry.
Y/Haüss
12-23-08, 10:07 AM
Thanks a lot Scott !!!
Very helpful your comments about " the mix" of Human ans Crustaceus. I'll try to do this corrections before start to sculpt all of details... There's also a very constructive critic from Mr. Kraken CMT about the size of the Head... I'll keep it in mind too.
Beto Prado
If Genoma Bureau could Answer you the answer would be that:
Hi Mr. Scott
That's why Genoma Bureau is sending our modeller to Borneo Tonight... From now his modelling based on reports. He must hear more trully reports from the natives to get it as realistic as it can be.
Thanks again Mr. Scott for your coments.
Best regards,
Y/Haüss

Hi everybody...
I need you help for the body proportions of Evil of The Reefs....
evil_of_the_reefs_9a.jpg
Dude, I'm in this contest but i want you to win bcuz you are clearly having soooooo much fun, and isn't that what ZB is all about.
I think i liked the older proportions better because they felt more real, then again, i like the newer proportions because it's more stylized. I would say push forward with the new proportions and see what happens.
The only advice I can offer is that if you are going to broaden the shoulders so much then you should also broaden his thighs and calves because he wouldnt be able to support that much weight on tiny legs.
Y/Haüss
12-23-08, 02:27 PM
Thank You AIMAN !!!
The Genoma Bureau is very honoured with Your comments.... Let's wait for some native reports to add more realistic to it too!!!
Thanks

He can be in one of Red Lobster... commercial :) Very cool so far. But in my opinion it seems his legs are very small...would he be able to hold his entire body weight on those limbs?
this thread is cool! very creative. good job

This is coming together well. However I really dug you original design, I think your instincts for the forms were stronger in the sketch, it seems to me that that you may be straying too far from it. There is something about the proportions in it that sketch that really work for me. And be sure you have your perspective turned off while sculpting (and I'm sure you already know that). Well I know all of this Input Is making you crazy
I wish you the best, and If you have any questions, Please don't hesitate to ask. Keep on sculpting! :tu: :tu:

The details really brings him to life, he is scary and yet I still see a walking fish-soup;).
He's great, I'm looking forward to see him in a context with his pedestal and some appropriate elements. The pose is good but I think that this character lends himself to some scarier move. I can see plenty of yet unexploited potential that you put there.
He's looking like a samurai lobster. He's really coming together.

If he had Jellyfish tentacles he'd be a creature to fear for sure! But he looks good as he is too, especially with how you arranged the tail sections to form the equivelant of your average villain's cape...only its tougher than any cape ever made, being constructed of chitin.

Tkts Solid! Your inputs are always welcome!
Here's another angle that showns some more details of the creature.
Like the "Ultraman" enemyes of the mid Seventies this Villian don't have much agility or " elastic" pose to show...
looks cool, i like it, but i think the over ammount of detail takes away from it a bit.

Following your progress has been fun.
Nice work on the feel and theme of the design!
:b2: the description and theme, pose is good
:b4: The specular of the shader is not consistent with the scale of your model.
(i'm sure someone at ZBC can explain this better) but it's something to do with the material settings and detail.

The dark sea scene is excellent, could be the poster of a top b-movie.
I have to agree on the last one, there's something out step there, it looks a bit like a porcelain statuine.

Hi Guys,
Here's another pose rendered in ZBrush... After some tips of our friends in ZBrush Central I think that it's getting mor realistic.
Hope you like it

i would play with some different colours on your lighting. Maybe green and blue one on each side of the model. Colours of the sea and all.

The modeling is quite good, also i can see you have some texturing skills. You really need to rethink the colour design though, theres no breakup of texture detail, it all amasses into a muddy mess. You should think of where to place lighter areas and darker areas and the transition from those areas into the other. Promising peice though. well done

Hi EveryBody....
Now the details of the Body are sharpness on the render and I'm working with only one light font...
You can see the light transitions over the body and tentacles.
