View Full Version : Finally!!!
ZBrush Document.jpg
Finally, after weeks of work, twenty hours days, no sleep, vats of coffee....
it is ready!!!!
Not sure about texture at the moment.
Gnomon will be selling a tutorial on how this is done.
I would wait for my dvd, it will have much much more!!!
New book is coming out in March, courtesy of Sybex Press.
Was going to sign the book deal with Worldware Game and Graphics Library, but they wanted recipes for chicken soup on the enclosed dvd.
Will be handling the previz on "The Hobbitt" so may not have time to write as often.
All the best!!! ( HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!)
I'm in awe of your awesomeness, thanks for making my day complete. :tu:
& can you please post an tutorial on how you came to this masterpiece?
(ps. my only critique is that the jpg compression might be a bit too harsh for my liking)
EDIT: it's so awesome that I broke 4 years of lurking just for this.

How did you fake the JPEG compression artifacting? Was it hard?
Oh yeah, here are some fan-boy emoticons for you

GREAT DEAL, ended up at the bottom with the ARTISTS!!!

At the very least, this demands a wireframe screencap - maybe even a tutorial beckons?

anyways that spoken here come my crits and cons.
i hope you dont mind that a noob comments on ur spectacular work.
1. I dont know if its he compression rate but it seems as if theres a bit of pinching going on there. i know from personal experience that this happens pretty fast on such complex geometries. on second thought... was this rendered with maxwell? theyve got a little pinching bug in their sss when rendering longer than 6 days. its either that or its a picture and you are trying to fool us.
2. I hate to say so but its just too much! its so detailed it gets really really hard to read.
3. maaan i really got no clue how you did this. its just marvelous! :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: ZBrush_Document Kopie.jpg

I don't usually buy these, but I may have to get this tutorial. Pretty awesome technique. It's a fairly simple design for a submarine, but you've captured that whole sub-aquatic feel really nicely. A good sense of space.
5* and two thumbs up! :tu: :tu:

A shame I can't rate this thread...
Oh well, I'm going to go an give your 5 stars to someone else at random.
Many thanks. It is nice to see Aurick working again, he is starting
to sleep in a lot. Brooding about Ryan, no doubt.
If you are going to post something questionable, do it around 8:00 am est. Your
post will be up at least two or three hours before joining me down here.
Did not believe how little Gnomon pays. Ryan jumped ship to that money!
He got it back though, he charged Zbrush for the interview!
According to WETA cannot mention what I am doing on "The Hobbitt"
Pete ( Peter Jackson to you) said not for a few years.
There are no Mcdonalds in New Zealand.
If all fails here, do you think Aurick can get a job on "The View"?

Nice to see they let lemonnado out.
50 hours of community service isn't too bad, try to get
inside work, cold outside.
I missed this place.
In the joint all you have are magazines and TV.
Even Aurick did not write.
On a sphere I got 282 views!!!!
Imagine if I had textured it!!!!

I'd rather see you pose it with transpose master, first.
Then texture it.
Then maybe Aurick will interview you.

Are you going have a 3d print made of it? You totally should. Use some of that D'Artiste money you're bound to rake in.
The only thing that would have made this better is if you had it fighting a t-rex, wolverine, and the hulk...at the same time, cause we don't see nearly enough of those on here.
-Dustin
To achieve "bottom row" on one of my few attempts is truly
fantastic.
As a little boy growing up in the camps of Idaho, this was only a dream.
It kept me alive those nights while the guards were on patrol.
To be lying there with shackles, chains and a skimpy leather outfit dreaming
of meshes, my eyes still fill up.
Obviously it was not done alone, many people to thank...
To Aurick, who had the good taste to move me here. Thanks Buddy!!!!!
To my agent, director, costume designer, best boy, gaffer, cleaning lady.
deli owner, thank you for hanging in with me
To my parole officer, you know what I feel.
In conclusion.....nice to be back, missed you all
I love the grey color that surrounds the red thing in the center! Could you layout your thought process you went through that led to this snappy result?
I can see that your obviously a busy artist, so If you dont reply I will understand.
Thought I would eventually animate and texture this guy.
Currently at 500,000 polys.
Character based on New Testament.
For now leave as is.
May be used in new game from Canada.
Comments welcome as usual.
When the creative juices flow....leave the napkins alone.
ZBrush Document.jpg
Tell us a little about your background.
Shoplifter from about age 8.
Classmates stole my lunch money, beat me up, left me in the gutter.
Spent lots of time alone, in the attic, with a telescope, watching the neighbors.
That's great, how has it influenced your work?
Spend more time alone in the attic with a telescope, watching the neighbors.
What is you current workflow like?
I spend about an hour a day cleaning the telescope, maybe a half hour cleaning the window.
I have to do it at night, when the neighbors are asleep.
Also the longer I spend the more nearsighted I get.
What was your biggest break?
Getting caught with the telescope by the neighbor next door.
What would be your advice to the newcomers?
Don't get caught by a neighbor that weighs over 200 lbs.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule!!!
A pleasure, could you spare 5 dollars?

Oh Hai!
I'm a big fan of your work and have tried to emulate your style. As practice, of course, I wouldn't want to plagiarise you and pass it off as my own. Anyway, I've run into a few problems with sphere placement and also with getting that whole "grey background" look...
Any advice?
SphereOfBrilliance.jpg
You mentioned that you might animate it later, I wondered if you had any tips on rigging. I ask because I have tried in Maya and there is an issue with having to flip the model. Anyway great job. I also would like to see the base mesh.

It's to hard to make a sphere with only the Simple Brush !
Have happy fun Christmas
Nice to see all the usual suspects.
With the economy(s) the way they are, I suspect a
lot of us have a lot more free time than usual.
Shame we aren't in the auto industry, we could spend
the day here.
Thank you all for making me welcome, you are obviously not forum
administrators.
Should have realized that the forum upstairs was not
for me.

the year.

New to ZBC, but far from new to 3D communities man. :)
I'd better buy a box of box of Scooby snacks. :D

12-19-08, 10:03 AM
It looks remarkably similar to some of the spheres I've made. :(
Maybe just coincidence..
Apologies Splodge, it was your sphere that "inspired" the final
artwork.
Will be giving you credit in the movie version and on CG Talk.
Have heard rumors that Brad Pitt will play the sphere.
Was originally supposed to be Angela Lansbury, but contract
negotiations broke down. She wanted a daily supply of Advil.

Hello Fellow Zbrushcentral Community Subforum Members!
Me and a artist friend were utterly impressed by your artwork and now that christmas is knocking at our doors we were figuring out a way to give "the gift of sphere" to all of you!
So here is what we came up with.
A sphere based on bicc39´s original Version.
It comes in a highquality polished boxing which can easily be applied to any wall.
As a additional extra for the first 40 customers we have come up with a glow at night version.
Powered by a standard bulb this is going to be a real rarity really soon.
As from next year the EU is forbiding these and this is your LAST oportunity.
From 1.1.2009 we will only be able to offer you the uncharming LED version
For a breathtaking 49,87€ this could be the center of your livingroom in no time!
day.jpg
night.jpg
Next few days we will announce the exact payment method.
Merry christmas to you all. Disco&Rene
I did some research into the creation of the basic :b3: and found that there were some bugs involved with early development.
It was found that 525,312 points was the stage where work flow was manageable. After that it was all down hill.

all hail sphere3d!
To be serious for one minute ( maybe less)
Will never make top row, or middle row, or border, or edge, or bottom row.

I will settle for this thread, in this place, with these people.

For the love of God, how did I miss this!!! :o
When I opened this post it brought tears to my eyes. It is a perfect sculpt of the one my Great Granny kept on her coffee table. It is my fondest memory of childhood, other than playing show and tell in the garage with Sally from next door when I was five of course.
It's a little worse for wear and has some paint peeling but I felt I should post a photo. I keep it in the storage room in a place of honor right next to the cats litter box so that every time I scoop poop I can look at it and remember my childhood.
