Glory be...
I'm "done" with my CG Challenge entry.
I'm so jazzed with how it came out for my first real project with ZB. What a killer application.
There's still stuff I will prob. do to it in time (like add his familiar that I talk about in the character brief), but for now, I'm done.
HERE's (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39862&perpage=20&pagenumber=1) the link to my entry thread with a bunch of the WIP.
Here's the poster in small size:

And HERE's (http://home.attbi.com/~monkeyfarm/CGTalk/MiddleEarth/poster-1_large.jpg) a link to a LARGE version (~250K)
A few stats on the project:
--------------
The project folder ended up being 1.3 GB (!!!) including multiple versions, backups, etc.
The final body and head models and their embedded textures were:
Body: 47 MB
Head: 5 MB
Rendered size: 3500 x 4000 @ 41MB
5 Lights
26 Materials
Some modeling in Wings for the more geometric stuff like jewelry.
No 2D post work or color correction. The only 2.5D work done was the sand around his feet.
Sky and Mesa background is a retouched photo.
Thanks to Southern again for his Alpha Pack.
P.S. Good luck to all the other Zbrushers that are entering. I'm guessing that Pixolator et all at Pixologic are lovin' it seeing the entries there for their software. Of course if I win, I'm not sure what I'll do with the other copy of ZBrush! :)

Thanks MTB. You should see the full size version... Holy smokes I futzed WAYYYY to much...
It so much different creating in ZB than a true 3D applicaion. you can spend time on making th eimage look good by focusing on what's seen, rather than stuff that will not be seen (i.e. the backs etc.)

HA! Fellah's thread has !!!18,000!!! views and 260 posts!
I've got 700 views and like 30 posts and prob. 29 of those are me.
I think he's gonna win unless someone comes out with something pretty good.
If I was gonna vote for someone other than myself ;) I'd vote for Fetus23... Even though it's kind of a jar jar looking thing, it's got a good personality to it.
Although I oughta get some bonus points for doing a textured model right?
:D
Thanks!

Hi Monkey farm
Great Modeling ! Bravo !
In your presentation some details :)
Why your level grey and color are not exactly on the same position ?
why do cut the creature's face in a such abrupt manner ? Another placements or zoom are not possible for avoid this ?
Why do you not center the color scepter ?
Spectators prefer page settings not halting :)
In any case very impressive work !

Thanks for the kind words Mr. Pilou!
I wanted to show as much detail as possible while giving as much of an overview as possible as well.
The vertical split on the sides is not really the main focus, but more of a framing element with the utility of showing the textured and the raw versions.
you lost me on the question about the "color scepter", sorry.

Missed this one when first posted.
Very impressive work and composition. I really enjoyed your detailing especially the jewellery and beads around the character's neck. The sand and dunes are also fanastico.
Your hard work has payed off. :tu:

Thank you very much... It turned out almost exactly like I had in my head when I started. It's fun working on characters like this. During the work you get a chance to kind of get in their heads, imagine where this mark came from, or that mark. Where did he get the black coins that hang from his belt (that you can't really see...).
Like the trichinobezoar suspended in the top of his staff that was recovered from the stomach of a desert troll... etc. etc. etc.
